Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor most buyers choosing between these two models, the Shokz OpenRun is the safer pick: Shokz lists it with an IP67 rating and explicitly says it is not for swimming, and its official product page currently presents OpenRun variants. The original OpenRun Pro advertises up to two more hours of battery life, but Shokz marks that model discontinued. Consider it only if you find a legitimate unit with acceptable price and warranty terms.
This comparison is between the original OpenRun Pro and OpenRun—not the separate OpenRun Pro 2.
OpenRun vs. original OpenRun Pro at a glance
| Buying factor | Shokz OpenRun | Original Shokz OpenRun Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised battery life | 8 hours, according to Shokz | Up to 10 hours, according to Shokz |
| Water resistance | IP67; Shokz says “Not for swimming” | IP55 sweat resistance |
| Listed weight | 26.4 g | 29 g |
| Generation and technology | 8th-generation bone conduction, per Shokz comparison material | 9th-generation bone conduction and TurboPitch, per the S810/S811 specification sheet |
| Product status | Shokz’s product page presents OpenRun variants | Shokz’s product page marks it “Discontinued” |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent head-to-head test results. Actual battery life can vary, and Shokz’s generation and technology labels do not establish a measured sound-quality advantage.
Which one should you buy?
Choose OpenRun for the more straightforward purchase
OpenRun makes more sense if you want the better-documented water-resistance rating or prefer a model still presented on Shokz’s official product page. Its IP67 rating is not a swimming recommendation: Shokz explicitly says “Not for swimming.” Check the exact listing because OpenRun is offered in different size and charging configurations.

Consider the original Pro if battery life is your priority
Shokz advertises up to 10 hours for the original OpenRun Pro versus 8 hours for OpenRun. That difference may matter on longer outings, but it does not guarantee a particular runtime in use. Since Shokz marks the Pro discontinued, check that a seller has a legitimate unit and that its price and warranty terms work for you before buying. Current authorized stock, prices, and warranty terms are not established here.
What the water-resistance ratings mean for a runner
Shokz specifies IP67 for OpenRun and explicitly excludes swimming. For the original OpenRun Pro, Shokz specifies IP55 sweat resistance. These are distinct manufacturer claims; neither should be read as a recommendation to swim in the headphones or expose them to immersion. If wet-weather use is important, follow the product’s own care and use guidance rather than treating the ratings as interchangeable.

Battery life, weight, and generation differences
Shokz lists OpenRun at 8 hours of battery life and 26.4 g, while the original Pro is listed at up to 10 hours and 29 g. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured results. The Pro’s S810/S811 sheet identifies 9th-generation bone conduction and TurboPitch; Shokz describes OpenRun as 8th-generation in its comparison material. Those labels describe the company’s product positioning, not proof that the Pro sounds better for every listener.
Shokz’s January 4, 2022 launch announcement also says the original Pro supports Quick Charge: a five-minute charge provides 1.5 hours of listening time. That is a Shokz claim, not an independent test.

Make sure you are not comparing the Pro 2 by mistake
OpenRun Pro 2 is a separate model, not another name for the original OpenRun Pro. Shokz lists 12 hours for the Pro 2 in its comparison material. Do not apply that figure—or any other Pro 2 specification—to the discontinued original Pro; check the exact model name and specifications on the listing.
