Bitcoin transactions belong on a Bitcoin explorer; BNB Smart Chain (BSC) transactions belong on BscScan or another BSC explorer. A sender’s “completed” message alone does not show that the receiving wallet is displaying the asset.
1. Get the transaction ID or hash
Open the withdrawal or send details in the wallet or exchange that initiated the transfer. Copy the transaction identifier: Bitcoin calls it a transaction ID or TXID; on BSC it is commonly called a transaction hash or TxID. Search that identifier rather than relying only on a wallet balance screen. An identifier looks up one transaction, while an address search can show a much broader history. Bitcoin.com’s guide explains that an explorer can accept either a TXID or an address: Bitcoin.com Support Center.
A transaction ID and public address are sufficient for an explorer lookup. Never provide a seed phrase or private key to verify a transfer.
2. Choose the explorer for the network used
Check the network named in the sender’s transaction or withdrawal record before opening an explorer. “BNB” can refer to different networks, and the explorers are not interchangeable.

BNB Beacon Chain is not the current route for checking a new BSC transfer. BNB Chain’s official explorer notice says Beacon Chain shut down on December 3, 2024, at block height 385,251,927: BNB Beacon Chain explorer notice.
3. Match the explorer result to the transfer
Once the transaction page loads, compare its details with the sender’s record. A matching identifier is a strong starting point, but checking the fields helps catch a wrong network, destination, or amount.

- Status: Determine whether the transaction is pending, succeeded, failed, or—on Bitcoin—still unconfirmed.
- Destination: Compare the recipient address character by character with the address you intended to use. Check the sending address too if it helps identify the transfer.
- Amount and asset: Confirm the amount. On BSC, check the token as well as the quantity; a transaction involving BNB is not the same thing as a token transfer merely because both use BSC.
- Fee: Compare the displayed network fee with the sender’s record where available.
- Time and block: Check the timestamp and block information to establish when and where the transaction appears in the chain.

4. Understand Bitcoin confirmations
Zero confirmations
A Bitcoin transaction with zero confirmations has been broadcast but is not yet included in a block. It is pending inclusion, not confirmed. Bitcoin developer documentation explains that an unconfirmed payment has not yet received a block confirmation: Bitcoin Developer Guide: Payment Processing.

One or more confirmations
One confirmation means the transaction is included in a block. Each later block adds another confirmation and makes replacing the transaction less likely, but does not make reversal mathematically impossible. Bitcoin’s documentation notes that a recent block can be replaced, leaving a one-confirmation transaction exposed to a double-spend risk: Bitcoin Developer Guide: Payment Processing.
Bitcoin.org says blocks are added approximately every 10 minutes on average, while block discovery is probabilistic. That is an average, not a countdown or a guarantee; an individual confirmation may take less or more time, and a low-fee transaction may wait longer. The same FAQ says six confirmations are often considered a cautious benchmark, not a universal rule or guarantee. 5. Understand BSC status and finality
For a BSC transaction, first confirm that the explorer shows the expected result and that it succeeded. BNB Chain documentation describes an economic fast-finality mechanism reaching finality by block n+2, with approximately 3.75 seconds of transaction finality under its stated 1.5-second block-time mechanism. This describes BNB Chain’s documented chain mechanism; it is not a promise that an exchange or recipient will credit a deposit in that time. A missing balance display does not, by itself, prove the transfer failed or that the asset is lost. Work through these checks using the explorer result and the sender’s record:

- Confirm the network. Make sure the receiving wallet is viewing the same network used for the transfer. A BSC transfer will not appear as a Bitcoin transaction, and a wallet set to another network may not show BSC activity.
- Check the transaction result. On the correct explorer, verify whether it succeeded or failed. If it failed, the explorer’s transaction details can help distinguish a failed transfer from a wallet display issue.
- Verify the recipient. Compare the destination on the explorer with the address intended. If they differ, the transaction was sent to a different address; the explorer cannot change where it went.
- Check token display and support. A token can be recorded on-chain without appearing in the wallet’s visible asset list. Check whether the wallet supports the network and token and whether the token needs to be added or displayed.
- Check official project information. If a token distribution, migration, or service status could affect availability, consult the project’s official announcement or status information. BNB Chain’s FAQ addresses cases where an exchange reports a completed transfer but a wallet does not display the asset: BNB Chain FAQ.
For example, a sender might report a USDT withdrawal to a Phantom wallet as complete while the recipient sees no funds. The useful checks are the network used, the transaction’s success and destination, and whether the wallet displays that token on that network—not the sender’s status message alone. BNB Chain FAQ.
