For the best battery life, keep the DeathAdder V3 Pro at its default 1,000 Hz polling rate. Razer estimates up to 90 hours at that rate, compared with up to 17 hours at 8,000 Hz. Choose 8,000 Hz only if you specifically want the higher report rate and accept the shorter stated runtime; Razer’s specifications do not establish that every player will notice a responsiveness benefit.
Choose a polling rate based on battery priorities
Polling rate is how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. Razer says the DeathAdder V3 Pro’s default is 1,000 Hz. Its official support specifications estimate battery life of up to 90 hours at 1,000 Hz and up to 17 hours at 8,000 Hz. These are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured or guaranteed runtimes. See Razer’s classic-base support specifications.
| Polling rate | Razer’s stated battery life | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 Hz | Up to 90 hours | Default rate; the battery-first choice. |
| 8,000 Hz | Up to 17 hours | Optional higher report rate; requires the HyperPolling Wireless Dongle and works wirelessly, not in wired mode. |
Razer documents the polling rates and runtime estimates, but those figures do not demonstrate a universal or perceptible improvement in responsiveness at 8,000 Hz. For everyday use or longer stretches between charges, 1,000 Hz is the sensible starting point. Try 8,000 Hz if you want to evaluate the higher report rate on your own setup and are comfortable charging more often.
Check whether your package includes the 8,000 Hz dongle
Do not assume every DeathAdder V3 Pro box has the same contents. Razer’s classic-base FAQ describes the HyperPolling Wireless Dongle as sold separately, while its Smooth Touch support page lists the dongle in that variant’s box contents. Check your exact edition and package before buying an accessory. The 8,000 Hz mode is wireless-only; Razer says the mouse does not support 8,000 Hz polling when connected in wired mode.

Set DPI for reliable control, not a universal “best” number
The factory DPI stages are 400, 800, 1,600, 3,200, and 6,400 DPI, with 1,600 DPI as the default. Razer Synapse lets you customize the stages. Razer’s specifications do not identify one universally best DPI for every game or player.
Start with the DPI you already control reliably. Change it if your own aiming or desktop use calls for a different cursor speed, then give the new setting time to feel familiar. Adjusting DPI changes how far the pointer moves for a given mouse movement; it is a personal control choice, not a guaranteed responsiveness upgrade.

Configure and keep the profile you intend to use
Use Razer Synapse for advanced settings such as polling rate and custom DPI stages. The mouse stores one onboard profile, based on the last Synapse profile used, according to Razer’s product page and FAQ. Set up and save the intended profile in Synapse before relying on the mouse on another computer.
- Connect the mouse and open Razer Synapse.
- Choose 1,000 Hz for battery-first use, or select 8,000 Hz if you have the compatible dongle and want to try the higher report rate.
- Keep the default DPI stages if they suit you, or customize them to match the sensitivities you use consistently.
- Save the intended configuration as the profile you want stored on the mouse.
If you leave the factory DPI stages unchanged, press and release the bottom button to cycle through them. Razer says holding that button for three seconds toggles the mouse’s power; that is different from a quick press to switch DPI.
