You can playtest a Google Playground game as soon as it is generated, then revise it with conversational instructions. It is not shared automatically: keep it Draft or Private while you work, choose Unlisted to share a direct link with selected people, or publish it as Listed / Discoverable for public search after Google’s safety evaluation.

How to test your Google Playground game

Google describes testing as part of the creation loop: describe a game in plain text, generate it, and play the result. Compare what happens with what you intended—such as whether the main mechanic works as expected and whether the presentation is clear. Google does not document a formal QA checklist or say that it runs a functional playtest on your behalf.

Revise one issue at a time

To edit a game, open Your Games and select the edit icon for the draft or published game. Give Playground a clear, focused conversational instruction. Google recommends avoiding a single prompt that combines many complex changes; make a change, then play the game again to see whether it helped.

You can also play a game while another is generating, and use conversational instructions to change its logic, graphics, or rules. The exact experience may vary by game and device. Playground is optimized for modern mobile and desktop browsers; most games are responsive across phones, tablets, and desktops, but that depends on how the creator implemented the game.

Choose who can access the game

New creations start as Drafts, so creating a game does not make it public. You can publish from Creation Studio or change visibility in Your Games. The options determine who can open the game and whether people can find it through Playground:

Visibility Who can access it Search and discovery Use it when
Draft Only you; there is no standalone game link Not public You are still working on it
Private Only you Not public You want to keep a compiled game to yourself
Unlisted Anyone with the unique direct link Hidden from public search and discovery You want to share with selected people
Listed / Discoverable The public Searchable across Playground after Google’s safety evaluation You want the broader Playground community to find it

These visibility descriptions are from the Playground Help Center. Choose Unlisted when recipients should need your link; choose Listed / Discoverable when you want the game to be publicly searchable.

How to share a game with a link

  1. Finish a playtest and any revisions you want to make before sharing.

  2. In Creation Studio or Your Games, publish the game or change its visibility. For link-only sharing, set it to Unlisted; for public discovery, set it to Listed / Discoverable.

  3. Copy the game’s unique direct link and send it to the intended players. An Unlisted game is accessible to anyone who has that link, so treat it as a shareable address rather than a private invitation.

Follow Playground’s Community Guidelines: do not link to, share, or display URLs of external websites in a game. Use Playground’s Social Links feature to share a game. The guidelines also require respect for copyright and prohibit misleading impersonation.

What happens when you edit a published game?

Edits to a published game remain private as a draft until you explicitly publish them again. The currently published version remains playable while you work. When you are ready for players to see the changes, publish the revised version; editing alone does not replace the live version.

Why might someone’s game link fail?

According to the Playground Help Center, a game link may stop working if you deleted the game, changed its visibility to Draft or Private, or the game was removed for policy violations. Check the game’s current visibility in Your Games and make sure you are sending its current direct link.

Who can use Google Playground?

Google’s launch announcement, dated October 7, 2026, describes Playground as an experiment launching in the United States for people 18 and older. The Help Center says creation access is rolling out in phases; at launch, browsing and playing the catalog is available to U.S. users 18 and older. Access may therefore depend on your location, age, and whether creation has reached your account. See Google’s announcement and the Help Center for the current details.

At launch, Google said free-tier generation had a limited number of tokens refreshed weekly, and a Google One AI plan could provide higher weekly limits and immediate creation access. These are launch details, not a guarantee of current plan terms or availability. Google also described Unity Spark integration as planned, with a closed beta coming soon at the time of the announcement; that statement does not establish current availability.
