If you mainly want to pilot a mech from its cockpit, compare VR-supported games such as Vox Machinae and Iron Rebellion. These are different experiences, not a contest with a proven overall winner—and “Titanfall 2 VR mod” can refer to two separate projects with different setup instructions.

Titanfall 2 centers on a pilot-and-Titan campaign, while Vox Machinae and Iron Rebellion focus on mech combat. A VR-supported game listing is also a different starting point from adding a community mod to a PC game. The available source material does not establish a reliable winner for comfort, visual quality, latency, motion-control fidelity, or value.
There are two different Titanfall 2 VR projects
TinyBlkDog’s Northstar plugin
The TinyBlkDog project README calls it “A VR mod for Titanfall 2’s single-player campaign.” It describes a Northstar client plugin using OpenXR and labels version 0.1.1 an alpha. The listed prerequisites are Titanfall 2 on Steam or the EA app, Northstar installed and launching the game, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU.
The README’s manual setup describes copying a DLL and INI file into Northstar’s plugins directory, setting an OpenXR runtime, and launching the campaign through Northstar. Those directions apply to this plugin; do not use them as a guide to CircuitLord’s separate installer.

The project documentation reports tests with Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR using Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. It says other headsets and runtimes are untested—not that they are incompatible. The alpha documentation describes six-degrees-of-freedom head tracking, motion-controller weapon aiming, cockpit HUD adjustments, and controller options.
CircuitLord’s separate installer and profile
CircuitLord’s repository describes an installer that locates Steam, EA, or Xbox installations and installs Northstar and the mod into a separate TF2VR profile. According to its README, VR campaign saves and settings remain separate from the ordinary campaign. The README also claims full VR campaign support, stereo rendering, full-body IK, manual reloads, and Titan controls. These are the project’s own feature descriptions, not independently verified results.

The two projects have different installation approaches and feature descriptions. Check the project name and follow that project’s own current instructions rather than combining steps or assuming one mod’s features belong to the other.

What to know before installing a Titanfall 2 mod
- It is not an official VR release. The projects are community mods. CircuitLord explicitly says its projects are unaffiliated with and unendorsed by the game’s developers or publishers; the reviewed project material establishes no official EA or Respawn VR release.
- Expect alpha caveats with TinyBlkDog’s plugin. Its README discloses alternate-frame stereo, observed frame spikes, occasional lockups that may lose progress since the last checkpoint, and cutscenes that follow the player’s head.
- Pay attention to the server warning. TinyBlkDog says, “Do not use this on official servers,” and describes the mod as single-player. Its README advises asking private Northstar server owners about their policies.
- Confirm your whole PC-VR setup. A headset alone does not run the TinyBlkDog PC mod: its documented requirements include the base game, Northstar, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU. The reported Quest 3 test is not a claim that Quest 3 runs the mod by itself.
- Consider movement and comfort individually. Fast artificial movement may not suit every player, but the available sources do not provide a controlled comfort comparison among the mod and the other games.
How to choose
- Choose a campaign first. If you specifically want Titanfall 2’s pilot-and-Titan story, investigate one of the community projects and identify which one you are installing.
- Choose cockpit combat first. If you care more about inhabiting a mech than playing Titanfall 2’s campaign, start by comparing Vox Machinae and Iron Rebellion. Their play modes differ, so check whether you want a campaign, multiplayer, or bot practice.
- Match the setup to your tolerance for tinkering. TinyBlkDog documents a Northstar plugin and OpenXR setup; CircuitLord describes a separate installer and
TF2VRprofile. The comparison games are presented as VR-supported storefront titles rather than Titanfall 2 mods. - Weigh the evidence appropriately. The Titanfall 2 feature descriptions come from project maintainers, and the Iron Rebellion comparison comes from the studio behind MECHA. The available sources do not establish an independent performance or comfort ranking.
