If a Ghosts Exposed ghost is missing, first check whether the seasonal event is active, then verify that ghost’s event-year-specific time and location and any collection prerequisite. A missing spawn is not, by itself, proof of a game bug. Ghosts Exposed returned in 2023, 2024 and 2025, but its October 2026 activation, schedule and locations are not confirmed here.
1. Confirm Ghosts Exposed is active
Ghosts Exposed is a seasonal GTA Online activity, not a permanent map encounter. Historical returns in 2023, 2024 and 2025 do not establish that it is available in October 2026. Check Rockstar’s current event announcements before troubleshooting a particular spawn; if the event is not active, its ghosts will not appear. Rockstar’s 2023 announcement documents an earlier event, not a current schedule.

2. Match the ghost to the active event’s schedule
Use a guide published for the event year that is actually live. In 2025, ghosts were tied to specific locations and one-hour in-game time windows, so arriving at the right place at the wrong time could leave the location empty. The 2025 locations and times should not be treated as a 2026 schedule. PC Gamer’s 2025 Halloween guide is useful for that year only.
- Confirm the guide is for the current event year.
- Check both the listed location and the in-game time window for the ghost you are seeking.
- If the current event’s schedule cannot be verified, do not assume an older map or timetable still applies.
3. Check whether you have unlocked the ghost
In the 2025 event, the final ghost at Vinewood Bowl appeared only after players photographed the preceding nine. If a late-stage ghost is absent, check your Ghosts Exposed collection progress in the Interaction Menu and confirm that all required earlier ghosts are recorded. This prerequisite is documented for 2025; it should not be assumed to describe a later event unless its current-year guide confirms it.

4. Photograph it using the in-game phone
The documented Ghosts Exposed mechanic is to use the in-game phone camera, frame the ghost, take the photo and submit it. A separate real-world camera is not part of the process. If the ghost is visible but the game does not register the capture, make sure it is in the camera frame and complete the photo submission step rather than simply viewing it.
5. Know what Rockstar’s update notes do—and do not—confirm
Rockstar’s GTAV Title Update 1.70 Notes, last updated January 23, 2025, mention a fix for an issue that removed the Ghosts Exposed Albany Brigham livery from players’ unlocks. That is a reward-unlock correction, not a general fix for ghosts failing to spawn.

6. Contact Rockstar Support if the issue is reproducible
If the event is confirmed active, you are following the current-year time and location, and any collection requirement is met, report the issue through Rockstar’s GTA Online Support hub. Include your platform, the date, in-game time, location and the number of ghosts recorded so Support can understand the exact circumstances. The support pages provide a request route and general help, but do not publish a Ghosts Exposed-specific spawn recovery procedure.
