Yes, if portable city-building matters more to you than precise controls or the strongest performance. The Nintendo Switch edition includes the After Dark and Snowfall expansions, but a 2018 review reported awkward placement controls and slowdowns in larger cities. Later DLC availability for Switch is not established by the available platform listings, so check the exact edition and add-ons in your regional Nintendo eShop before buying.
What the Switch edition includes
Paradox announced the Switch edition on September 13, 2018, with the base city-building game and two expansions: After Dark and Snowfall. The publisher also described a Switch-designed interface, additional tutorials, HD Rumble, and Pro Controller support. Its core simulation covers zoning and districts, transport, public services, utilities, policies, and city finances. Paradox’s launch announcement is the source for these edition details.

How the Switch version compares with other platforms
| What matters | Nintendo Switch edition | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Portability | Designed to let you play the city-building simulation on a handheld system. | A strong fit if you want to manage your city away from a desk or TV. |
| Included expansions | After Dark and Snowfall, according to Paradox’s 2018 launch announcement. | Do not assume this means later expansions or add-ons are included. |
| Controls | Switch-oriented interface and controller support; a 2018 Nintendo Life review found precise placement could be awkward. | Roads and underground pipes may be less comfortable to place than with more precise controls. |
| Performance in larger cities | A 2018 Nintendo Life review reported slowdowns as cities grew. | This is a dated review observation, not a current benchmark or a guarantee of how every city performs. |
| Later DLC | Current platform listings cited here do not establish a complete Switch DLC catalog. | Verify each add-on’s Switch compatibility and availability in your local store. |
Controls and performance: the main compromises
Nintendo Life’s 2018 review said the game’s menus had been adapted for controller navigation but that precise placement, particularly roads and underground pipes, could be awkward. The reviewer also criticized the tutorial support and reported performance worsening as cities grew, with frame rates falling into the low 20s in some larger-city situations. The review rated the game 5/10 and favored playing it elsewhere. These are findings from one contemporary review, not a fresh technical test or a universal result. The review does not establish whether later updates changed those results. Read Nintendo Life’s 2018 Switch review.
In practice, the trade-off is straightforward: the Switch offers portability and a substantial city simulation, while precision and performance in larger cities are the reasons to compare other platforms before committing.

Does the Switch version have all the DLC?
No complete current Switch add-on catalog is established by the cited listings. Paradox’s pages for Sunset Harbor and Snowfall list other platforms but omit Switch. Its general buy page lists Nintendo Switch alongside many add-ons, but that broad listing does not prove every add-on works with or is available for the Switch edition. The Sunset Harbor page, the Snowfall page, and Paradox’s general buy page should not be read as a definitive Switch DLC catalog.
The safe distinction is that After Dark and Snowfall were confirmed as included in the Switch launch edition; compatibility and availability for other add-ons need to be checked individually in the Nintendo eShop for your region.
