As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar has not announced a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI or published PC system requirements. Its official listing names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 release date for those versions. There is no evidence-based PC upgrade list yet, so wait rather than buying hardware specifically for GTA 6.
What platforms and requirements has Rockstar announced?
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and gives November 19, 2026 as the release date for those platforms. Rockstar Support’s platforms, editions, and versions information says the game can be pre-ordered for those consoles; that page was last updated August 18, 2026. Neither checked source lists a PC version or PC system requirements.
Rockstar’s June 24, 2026 Newswire announcement likewise described GTA VI as a single-player experience coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That confirms the platforms Rockstar had announced in these sources as of October 7, 2026. It does not establish whether the company will announce a PC version later.
Should you upgrade your PC before GTA 6?
No—not specifically for GTA VI. Without official PC minimum or recommended specifications, no particular graphics card, processor, amount of memory, storage drive, or complete gaming PC can be matched responsibly to the game. Console hardware and a console release date do not establish what a PC version would require.

Treat any online list of supposed GTA VI PC requirements as unofficial unless Rockstar publishes it. Buying against those estimates risks spending money on parts that may not match the eventual requirements or your performance goals.

- Processor: Compare your CPU model with the official minimum and recommended CPUs.
- Graphics card: Check the exact GPU model against Rockstar’s listed graphics requirements.
- Memory: Compare installed RAM with the published minimum and recommended amounts.
- Operating system: Confirm that your Windows version or other listed OS is supported.
- Free storage: Check available space against the stated storage requirement.
Then consider the resolution and performance target you want. Requirements describe the publisher’s stated thresholds; they do not, by themselves, promise a particular experience on every system. Check Rockstar’s game page and support updates again before buying hardware, because platform and requirements announcements can change.
