Remove detachable eartips before cleaning, and wash them only if the manufacturer allows it. Clean the earbud nozzle or mesh, charging contacts, and case using the instructions for your exact model; keep moisture out of openings and let every cleaned part dry fully before reassembly or charging.
How to clean sleep earbuds step by step
- Check the exact model’s official care instructions. Cleaning methods differ: rubbing alcohol is specified for the soundcore Sleep A20 mesh, for example, but Ozlo and Bose Sleepbuds II give dry-swab guidance for their nozzles.
- Remove detachable eartips. Clean the tips separately so you do not wet the earbud body while washing them.
- Wash the tips only as directed. If the manufacturer permits washing, use its specified mild soap or detergent and water. Rinse thoroughly and let the tips dry completely before putting them back on.
- Clean the nozzle or mesh using the model’s method. Do not push a swab or other tool into an opening. Follow the model-specific guidance below if you have Ozlo Sleepbuds, Bose Sleepbuds II, or soundcore Sleep A20.
- Clean contacts and the case as directed. Keep them dry unless the manufacturer says otherwise, and follow any warning against wiping delicate charging pins.
- Let all parts dry fully before reassembly or charging.

These instructions are model-specific, not interchangeable. For another brand or model, use its own official care instructions rather than assuming that a method listed here is safe.
How to remove earwax from the nozzle or mesh
Ozlo Sleepbuds and Bose Sleepbuds II: dry-swab guidance
With the eartips removed, Ozlo and Bose advise using a dry, soft cotton swab on the nozzle. Clean only the surface; do not insert the swab or another tool into the opening. Bose Sleepbuds II have an additional procedure for wax that has built up on the earbuds and cannot be wiped off.
Bose Sleepbuds II: procedure for stubborn mesh wax
Bose’s procedure applies to Sleepbuds II only. It calls for protective gloves, a small amount of 3% hydrogen peroxide on a soft cloth or tissue at the mesh opening, and a five-minute wait. Then gently loosen the wax with a soft-bristled toothbrush moistened with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Avoid letting excess liquid enter the opening, shake off loosened debris, and dry the earbud. Leave it open until excess moisture has dried before reattaching the tips. Follow Bose’s Sleepbuds II instructions; do not apply this procedure to other models.

soundcore Sleep A20: rubbing alcohol on the mesh
The soundcore Sleep A20 FAQ says to gently clean its metal mesh filter beneath the rubber tips with a Q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol. This advice is specific to the A20; it does not establish that rubbing alcohol is safe for other sleep earbuds.
How often should you clean sleep earbuds?
Ozlo recommends cleaning its Sleepbuds once a week. Bose’s Sleepbuds II support page says to clean them periodically but does not specify a weekly schedule. The cited soundcore A20 FAQ does not state a cleaning interval. Follow the interval given for your model rather than applying one schedule to every pair.

What to avoid when cleaning
- Do not insert swabs, picks, or other tools into a nozzle or opening.
- Do not assume that soap, water, rubbing alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide is suitable for every model. Use liquids only where the manufacturer’s instructions allow them.
- Do not wipe delicate charging pins if your manufacturer warns against it; a wiping motion can bend pins or force moisture into crevices.
- Do not reattach tips or charge the earbuds until cleaned parts are completely dry.
Where to get replacement eartips
Choose replacement tips made for the exact earbud model. Ozlo says replacement parts and accessories can be ordered through customer service, and Bose manuals direct users to customer service. Check the manufacturer’s current support channel for availability and compatibility rather than assuming tips fit across models.
