For the Cuisinart WAF-V100C2 vertical waffle maker, unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before cleaning. Brush out crumbs, wipe residue with a damp cloth, and soften baked-on batter with a little cooking oil for about five minutes. To reduce sticking while cooking, follow the model’s fill and batter-flow guidance and adjust the temperature slightly if a waffle will not release. Owners of other models should follow their appliance’s manual.
How to clean the Cuisinart WAF-V100C2
The steps below follow the Cuisinart WAF-V100C2 instruction booklet, which describes a vertical waffle maker with die-cast aluminum nonstick baking plates. The manufacturer says the appliance must be unplugged and completely cool before cleaning or storing. Cuisinart WAF-V100C2 Instruction and Recipe Booklet
- Turn the temperature knob to its lowest setting, unplug the cord, and let the waffle maker cool completely. Leaving the front cover open can help the grids cool faster.
- Brush crumbs from the grooves, or wipe them away with a dry cloth or paper towel.
- For batter or oil residue on the grids, use a damp cloth. Make sure the grids are completely cool before wiping them.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
How to remove baked-on batter safely
If batter has dried onto the plates, the Cuisinart booklet recommends pouring a little cooking oil onto the stuck batter and letting it stand for about five minutes. The oil softens the residue so it can be removed gently; avoid scraping at it with metal or abrasive tools.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh pads, and never immerse the cord, plug, or appliance in water or another liquid. The booklet does not provide a general recommendation for dish soap, sprays, soaking, or removing the plates, so do not assume those methods are suitable for this model.

How to reduce batter sticking while cooking
Wait for the ready signal
Allow preheating to finish before adding batter: the WAF-V100C2’s green ready light and audible signal indicate that it is ready. The manual recommends browning setting #3 for a golden-brown waffle, but the appropriate setting and cooking time depend on the recipe and the shade you want.
Measure and pour carefully
Use the supplied measuring cup and avoid overfilling. The booklet says an amount between ¾ and 1 cup (175–250 ml) may be appropriate, depending on batter thickness; it advises pouring less rather than more because batter expands. Do not fill to the top of the waffle grid.

- Compact & Convenient – Small size makes it easy to store when not in use.
Pour carefully so batter flows through the vertical spout into the grid. Whisk out lumps. If the batter does not flow easily, the manual says it is too thick: whisk it smoother or add liquid one tablespoon at a time. These amounts and directions are guidance for this Cuisinart model, not a universal waffle recipe formula.
Adjust the setting if a waffle sticks
If a waffle sticks during cooking, the manufacturer’s remedy is to increase the temperature slightly until the waffle releases, then return to the setting you want. When removing a cooked waffle, gently loosen an edge with a heatproof plastic or wooden spatula, or nonstick-coated tongs. Metal utensils can damage the nonstick coating.

What owners of other vertical waffle makers should do
Cleaning instructions and release remedies can vary by appliance. Check your own model’s manual for cooling and cleaning directions, whether any cleaner is approved, and which utensils are safe for its cooking surface. Do not assume that the WAF-V100C2’s oil treatment or temperature adjustment is recommended for another model.
