Choose based on the work you do and how each service meters use—not on a headline price or an unsupported claim that one model is best. Grok is the natural starting point for xAI’s search and media features, Claude for its own coding and work tools, and Poe if you want to switch among providers through one points budget. If you are unsure, try the free options first and see which tools and limits matter in your actual workflow.

Start with your work, not the plan name

Before paying, identify the tool or access pattern you actually need. These subscriptions are not directly comparable by price alone: Grok uses a shared weekly allowance across products, Claude has session and weekly limits, and Poe meters use with points. The available plan descriptions do not establish a common price-per-message or a universal winner.

  1. What do you do most? Consider whether you mainly need search, coding and longer work tasks, image or video generation, or access to several providers.
  2. Which provider or tool is essential? Confirm that the exact plan includes it; features and tier names can change.
  3. How often do you hit limits? Compare each service’s allowance and reset rules in its own terms.
  4. Do you want one provider or a choice of models? Direct-provider plans and a multi-model service offer different kinds of access.
  5. What will you actually pay? Check current checkout pricing, billing period, taxes, currency, and renewal terms for your region.

How the three options differ

Priority Starting point Why it may fit Check before paying
xAI search, voice, connectors, or image and video tools Grok xAI lists real-time web and X search, voice, connectors, and media features in its product and plan materials. Current tier price, exact tier features, and weekly allowance.
Claude’s work and coding features Claude Anthropic lists Claude Code, longer multi-step tasks, Projects, and other Claude features with paid plans. Regional price, session and weekly limits, and whether you need separate API access.
Switching among providers through one service Poe Poe offers access to models from multiple providers through a points-based subscription. Point costs for preferred bots, allocation and renewal schedule, rollover, sharing, and purchase platform.
Testing whether paid access is worthwhile Free access xAI and Anthropic describe free access, allowing you to try your own prompts and workflow first. Free-tier limits and whether the feature you need is available on the paid tier.

What the plans cost—and what those prices do not tell you

The figures below are listed prices on official pages accessed October 7, 2026. They are not a like-for-like measure of messages, capacity, or value. Prices and terms can change; verify the live checkout total in your region.

Service and plan Published price Price context
xAI SuperGrok $30 per month Listed on xAI’s pricing page accessed October 7, 2026.
xAI SuperGrok Plus $100 per month Listed on xAI’s pricing page accessed October 7, 2026.
Anthropic Claude Pro US$20 monthly, or US$17 per month equivalent with annual billing The annual option is US$200 billed up front. The page specifies US pricing; taxes and regional prices may vary.
Anthropic Claude Max From US$100 per month Starting price listed on Anthropic’s pricing page accessed October 7, 2026.
Poe yearly plans US$49.99 to US$2,499.99 per year Poe’s page displays annual prices and monthly equivalents from US$4.17 to US$208.33. Taxes and currency conversion may change checkout totals.

xAI’s page also shows Lite and Heavy tiers, but the captured comparison does not establish their prices. Do not infer a price from another tier. Poe’s wide price range accompanies different point allotments; it is not evidence that a particular plan is better value for your use.

Grok: choose it for xAI’s tool set, then check the allowance

xAI’s listed SuperGrok plan includes higher limits, Grok Bot, connectors, Expert, and image and video generation. SuperGrok Plus adds 1080p video, significantly higher use across Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build, priority access, and early access. These are plan descriptions, not a guarantee that every feature or limit will remain unchanged.

xAI says paid SuperGrok plans draw from one weekly allowance across products. Its FAQ says extra usage credits become available after included weekly usage is exhausted and are priced at standard rates. If you repeatedly need more than the included use, compare the current higher-tier terms rather than assuming occasional extra credits are the cheapest option.

Claude: weigh coding and work features against message limits

Anthropic lists Claude Code, longer multi-step tasks, Projects, priority access during high traffic, and early access to features among its paid-plan benefits. Claude Pro is listed at US$20 monthly or US$17 per month equivalent when billed annually at US$200 up front; Claude Max starts at US$100 monthly. Regional pricing and applicable taxes can vary.

Claude usage depends on factors including message length, attachments, conversation length, model, and feature. Anthropic describes five-hour session resets and weekly limits across models. Pro is not unlimited, and its subscription does not include Console API usage. Anthropic states in its Claude Pro help article: “The Pro plan does not include API usage through the Claude Console.”

Poe: compare point costs, not just its model list

Poe advertises access to models from multiple providers, including Claude and other model families. Its yearly plans display allotments ranging from 10,000 points per day to 8.25 million points per month. Because plans may grant points daily, monthly, or on both schedules, compare the specific plan’s allotment with the bots you expect to use.

  • Check point consumption for your preferred bots before subscribing.
  • Track your remaining balance; subscription points are generally shared equally among subscription members.
  • Unused points generally do not roll over.
  • Subscriptions are managed on the platform where they were purchased.

A large model selection does not by itself tell you how many prompts or tasks your points will cover. The relevant comparison is your expected use against the point costs and allocation terms shown for the plan and bots.

When to start with free access

If you have not established a regular need for paid capacity, try the free access described by xAI and Anthropic with the prompts and tasks you already do. Note which feature you need, how often you reach a limit, and whether the paid plan changes that specific constraint. That gives you a more useful basis for subscribing than choosing solely by provider reputation or a listed price.

Verify the details at checkout

  • Confirm the current plan name, included features, and price in your region.
  • Check whether billing is monthly or annual and whether an annual price is charged up front.
  • Read the provider’s current usage, reset, and over-limit terms; for Poe, inspect bot point costs and point rollover rules.
  • Confirm taxes, currency conversion, renewal, and the platform that manages the subscription.
  • Keep chat subscriptions distinct from API access: Claude Pro does not cover Claude Console API usage.
