Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The Aplus GV18 is an older smartwatch phone with calling, phone notifications and basic utility features on paper. At roughly $35, it is best viewed as a dated, low-cost Bluetooth accessory—not a dependable modern smartwatch. Historical listings show prices near that figure, but they do not confirm that a working unit is available today.
What the GV18 is—and what the $35 figure means
The Aplus guide calls the device a “Smart Watch Phone.” It is designed to pair with a phone, mirror some notifications, handle calls and provide simple utilities. That feature list comes from the manual, not a current performance test. The supporting review evidence is also old: the individual reviews discussed below were published in 2015.
The price is historical context, not a verified current deal. E-Catalog listed the GV18 at $35.96 when accessed on September 28, 2026, while marking it an “Outdated Product.” A Geekbuying product Q&A search result accessed on the same date displayed $35.79. Neither establishes that a new, working watch can currently be bought for either price. Check a seller’s live listing, condition and return terms before paying.
What the manual says it can do
Pairing, calls and notifications
The guide describes Bluetooth pairing with a phone, call handling and synchronized notifications. It also describes remote camera control and anti-loss functions. These features depend on successful phone pairing and the required companion software; the manual’s description does not establish compatibility with current phones or reliable notification delivery.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Basic activity and convenience tools
The listed utilities include a pedometer, sleep monitor and sedentary reminder. The guide also describes local music playback and music control over Bluetooth. It does not describe a modern streaming service, and these functions should not be mistaken for a full-featured fitness platform.
NFC and SIM-related functions
The manual mentions NFC functions built into the strap. Rob Pomeroy’s 2015 specification table also reports GSM/GPRS SIM support, but that is a historical specification, not confirmation that the watch will work on a carrier today. Network compatibility depends on the device’s bands and the carrier’s current network support; the reviewed sources do not verify present-day service.

What one reviewer found in practice
Rob Pomeroy’s 2015 review described the companion app as limited and awkward to configure. He said it had to remain running for notifications to arrive, and that notifications could stop if the app closed or failed. That is one reviewer’s experience from 2015, not a test across today’s phones.
Pomeroy also wrote, “It has a pedometer, but it just doesn’t work.” Treat that as an anecdotal report about the unit he reviewed, rather than a controlled test of every GV18. A separate Spanish-language video review published by Alejandro Pérez on April 19, 2015, described the price-to-performance ratio more favorably. These differing impressions underline how little the old reviews can establish about a specific unit you might buy now.

Reported specifications, with their age and caveats
The following figures come from Pomeroy’s 2015 comparison table. They are historical reported specifications and claims, not current manufacturer verification or measurements by this article.
| Item | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Display | 1.54-inch capacitive screen; 240 × 240 pixels |
| Wireless and cellular | Bluetooth 3.0; GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 SIM support |
| Processor and memory | 533MHz MTK6260A processor; 128M storage; microSD/TF support up to 32GB |
| Battery | 450mAh replaceable battery listed; Pomeroy noted that his unit’s battery was labeled 550mAh |
| Battery-life claim | 72 hours of talk time, reproduced as a claim in the review’s table—not a verified test |
| Camera and sensors | 1.3MP camera; accelerometer; no GPS reported |
| Construction and charging | 12.3mm thick; 50g; micro-USB charging; NFC in the strap |
Setup and charging
- Check the watch and phone first. Confirm that the unit powers on and that its charging port and strap are intact. Current phone compatibility is not established by the available documentation.
- Pair the watch with the phone over Bluetooth. The guide describes phone pairing as the basis for calls and synchronized functions. Follow the watch’s prompts and the instructions supplied with the particular unit.
- Configure notification synchronization if available. The manual describes Android synchronization software and an enabled notification service. The 2015 review’s app problems mean notification delivery should be tested before relying on it.
- Charge before first use. The guide recommends charging for at least two hours before initial use and says USB supports charging and data. It says an Android phone charging cable can be used; check that the connector fits your unit rather than assuming every generic cable will.
Who should consider it?
- Possibly suitable: someone curious about an inexpensive older gadget who can verify a specific unit’s condition and is comfortable with limited or unreliable phone integration.
- A poor fit: anyone who needs dependable notifications, verified fitness tracking, GPS, confirmed carrier connectivity, current software support or a known replacement-parts supply. The available sources do not establish those capabilities for a present-day purchase.
There is no verified current replacement battery or strap listing in the cited material. Likewise, the old price clues are not enough to recommend a seller or to establish that the watch is a good-value purchase today.
