Open FinTech Forum 2018 was a two-day Linux Foundation conference about the intersection of financial services and open source. It took place in New York on October 10–11, 2018, and has concluded.
What was Open FinTech Forum 2018?
The Linux Foundation held the event at the 2Below Conference Center at Credit Suisse in New York. Its purpose was to explore how financial services organizations could use and participate in open-source technology, including how they might manage open source programs internally.
The event page is a historical record, not a current registration page. The organizer marked the conference as concluded and provided links to keynote videos and a photo gallery: Linux Foundation: Open FinTech Forum 2018.
What topics did the conference cover?
The Linux Foundation’s July 9, 2018 announcement framed the program around practical guidance for CIOs and senior technology leaders, alongside discussion of technologies affecting financial services:

- Creating and managing internal open source programs.
- Artificial intelligence.
- Blockchain.
- Cloud-native systems, including Kubernetes and containers.
- Quantum computing.
The announcement also said that proposals to speak were being accepted through July 21, 2018. That was a deadline for the 2018 event, not an active opportunity. See the Linux Foundation’s July 9, 2018 announcement for its original description of the program.
Who spoke at Open FinTech Forum 2018?
The organizer’s event page listed speakers from technology research, open-source projects and financial institutions. Examples included:

- Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director of Hyperledger.
- Bob Sutor, Vice President for IBM Q Strategy and Ecosystem at IBM Research.
- Yuri Litvinovich, Senior Cloud Engineer at Scotiabank.
These are the titles listed in the event’s historical materials; they describe the speakers’ roles at the time and should not be read as current job titles.

The Linux Foundation event page links to a 2018 keynote video playlist and a photo gallery. Those links are the best starting point for finding the organizer’s surviving event materials.

Cloud-native fintech talk and slides
Lunar Engineering’s talks archive records “Building a Fintech Startup on Cloud Native Technology,” presented by Kasper Nissen and Thomas Bøgh Fangel at the event in New York on October 10, 2018. The archive links to the presentation slides.

The available event and presenter pages establish the date, venue, broad program themes, selected speakers and some archived media. They do not establish a reliable attendance figure, so a specific headcount should not be attributed to the conference based on these records. Open FinTech Forum should also not be confused with Paris Fintech Forum or another similarly named event.
Rank #4
In retrospect, the program’s combination of organizational guidance and technical subjects shows that the conference treated open source in financial services as both a governance concern and a technology concern. That is an interpretation of the listed topics, not a claim about what any individual speaker concluded.
