If you do not see the feature, it may not have reached your version or account.
What are Chrome History Journeys?
Journeys organizes related pages and searches into topic-based groups. Instead of relying only on a chronological list of page titles, you can revisit a cluster of activity tied to an interest or task—for example, research for a Yosemite trip. Chrome may also offer related search suggestions to help continue that exploration.
Google’s February 8, 2022 announcement described Journeys as a way to group search history by topic or intent and resume research. It first appeared as a desktop experiment in Chrome Canary in October 2021. Chromium’s 2021 announcement and Google’s 2022 rollout post describe the feature’s original model.
What does the unified Side Panel change?
The Side Panel is a companion area in Chrome that displays tools alongside the current page, rather than requiring a separate full-page destination. Google says Chrome added the Side Panel in May 2022; Chrome for Developers later announced that extensions could display content there beginning with Chrome 114. Those milestones establish the Side Panel’s history, but do not by themselves confirm a universal Journeys integration.

A May 26, 2026 report from Freedom251 says Journeys are beginning to appear in the unified Side Panel, where browsing context can sit beside the active tab. Treat this as a reported, gradual rollout: the report is not an official Google or Chromium release note, and a definitive version, operating-system, or account availability matrix has not been established.
How do I find Journeys in Chrome?
If the feature is available in your build, look in Chrome’s Side Panel for Journeys. The original desktop rollout also made Journeys accessible from the History Journeys page and through a “Resume your research” suggestion. Labels and placement can vary as Chrome’s interface changes, so absence of a Side Panel entry does not necessarily mean your browsing history is missing.

Why might Journeys be missing?
The available 2026 report describes the Side Panel appearance as beginning or gradual, not as a release delivered to every Chrome installation at once. Availability can vary by Chrome version, platform, region, account, or experiment group. The original broad desktop rollout in February 2022 covered English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Turkish; that historical language list is not confirmation of the current 2026 rollout’s scope.
Journeys’ experiment controls and implementation have changed over time. A Chromium issue records the history-journeys-include-synced-visits flag as expired in milestone 120, so instructions that depend on that flag should not be treated as a current way to enable the Side Panel feature.

Can I turn off Journeys or delete a journey?
Google’s original descriptions say users can turn Journeys off or clear an individual journey. You can also clear browsing history through Chrome settings. Exact labels and placement may differ from the original desktop rollout, so use the controls shown in your current version rather than relying on an old screenshot or experiment-specific instructions.
Does Chrome Journeys sync across devices?
In October 2021, Google said the Canary experiment grouped history on the device and did not save it to the user’s Google account. The February 2022 announcement said Google might explore cross-device Journeys later. These statements describe the early experiment and plans at that time; they do not establish the sync behavior of every later implementation. The available evidence does not confirm a current, universal cross-device sync policy for Journeys.

Is Journeys available on stable Chrome?
Google announced a desktop rollout in February 2022, following the 2021 Canary experiment. Separately, the claim that Journeys are now appearing in the unified Side Panel comes from a May 26, 2026 secondary report, not an official release note confirming availability for all stable Chrome users. The supported conclusion is that Journeys existed in desktop Chrome and that a Side Panel appearance has been reported as gradual; no exact universal stable version or platform matrix is established.
