To turn on Facebook Quiet Mode, open the app’s menu and go to Your Time on Facebook (or the similarly named time-management section). Under Manage Your Time, tap Quiet Mode and switch it on. To turn it off, return to that control and switch it off.
How to turn on Quiet Mode in the Facebook app

Open the Facebook mobile app and open the main menu.

Go to Your Time on Facebook, or the similarly named time-management option.

Under Manage Your Time, tap Quiet Mode.

Switch Quiet Mode on. If you want it to run at set times, use the scheduling controls described below.

Facebook may move or rename settings between app releases, accounts, regions, and operating systems. If these exact labels do not appear, look in the app’s time-management settings for Quiet Mode.
What Facebook Quiet Mode does
Meta says, “Turning on Quiet Mode mutes most push notifications and limits notification dots.” When you return to Facebook, the app reminds you that Quiet Mode is on. Meta’s description appears in its November 5, 2021 announcement about time-management tools.

The qualification “most” matters: Meta does not promise that every notification is blocked. Quiet Mode is not described as logging you out, deleting messages, or changing notification settings for your entire device.
How to schedule Quiet Mode
In the Quiet Mode controls, choose the scheduling option, tap Add Schedule, then select the days and start and end times. The schedule remains active until you return to the setting and turn Quiet Mode off.

How to turn off Quiet Mode

Open Facebook’s main menu and return to Your Time on Facebook or the current equivalent.

Under Manage Your Time, open Quiet Mode.

Switch it off. If you had set a schedule, disabling Quiet Mode here turns off the active setting.

Quiet Mode vs. your phone’s Do Not Disturb

Android Do Not Disturb is a separate phone setting, accessible through Quick Settings or Settings. You do not need to enable it to use Facebook Quiet Mode.

Check that Quiet Mode is currently on in Facebook’s time-management settings. A scheduled setting applies only on its selected days and during its chosen hours.

If your goal is to silence notifications from multiple apps, use your phone’s Do Not Disturb settings instead; Facebook Quiet Mode is limited to Facebook.
Do not confuse Facebook Quiet Mode with Instagram’s feature
Meta’s descriptions of automatic direct-message replies, changed activity status, and fully suppressed notifications refer to Instagram Quiet Mode, later renamed Sleep mode in Instagram documentation. Those behaviors should not be assumed to apply to Facebook Quiet Mode.
