Yes. PayPal lets you run reports for a selected date range. Use a custom statement to review balance-affecting activity, or download transaction details and total the received payments that match your definition of income. Those reports do not necessarily provide one universal figure labeled “income”: gross payments, payments after refunds, and proceeds after fees are different totals.
Choose the report that matches what you need
| What you want to know | Use | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| How your PayPal balance changed | Custom statement | Opening and closing balances, total debits and credits, and balance-affecting activity. Pending activity is excluded. |
| How much you received in selected transactions | Activity Download, then filter and total the transaction rows | Detailed activity that you can sort by transaction type, status, date, and amount to match your chosen definition of income. |
A statement’s total credits or ending balance is not automatically a sales-income figure. Those values summarize account activity, which can include transactions other than customer payments.
How to get a custom-date report
For a statement summary
- Sign in to PayPal and open Activity.
- For a business account, go to All Reports, then Payments, then Statements – monthly and custom.
- Choose a custom statement, set the date range, and request the report in an available format.
Menu names and locations can vary by account view and locale. PayPal describes these statements as summaries of balance-affecting activity; they exclude pending items such as uncaptured authorizations, pending eChecks, and unresolved disputes. See PayPal’s statement documentation.
For transaction-level detail
- Open PayPal’s Activity Download report from the reporting area of your account.
- Set the custom dates and select an export format.
- Open the downloaded file in a spreadsheet or other suitable application, filter the rows to the transactions you want to count, and total the relevant amount column.
PayPal’s business-account help page gives the route through Activity → All Reports → Payments and explains filtering transactions and using AutoSum: download a report of PayPal transaction history. The exact menu may differ outside the documented account view.

Define “income” before totaling transactions
The right total depends on the question you are answering. Before summing the export, decide which transaction types and statuses count, whether to subtract refunds, and whether you want the gross amount paid or the proceeds after PayPal fees. A simple sum of every credit or every balance-affecting transaction may include activity that is not sales income.
- Gross payments received: include the payment transactions you consider sales, before subtracting refunds or fees.
- Payments net of refunds: subtract refunds associated with those payments.
- Net proceeds after fees: account for PayPal fees as well as refunds, using the relevant transaction amounts in the export.
Choose a consistent date rule too: for example, whether you are grouping transactions by their recorded transaction date or another accounting date. The report provides transaction details, but the income definition and bookkeeping treatment are yours to specify.

PayPal report limits and export formats
PayPal’s Activity Download documentation, last updated July 2, 2026, says reports can include activity from up to seven years back, with a maximum date range of 12 months per report. If you need a longer period, request separate reports for successive date ranges. CSV and TAB reports are limited to 50,000 records per report; larger reports are split into files in a ZIP. Available formats include PDF, CSV, TAB, IIF, and QIF. IIF is for QuickBooks in the US, while QIF is for USD, so check that a format suits your account and workflow before relying on it. See PayPal’s Activity Download documentation.

Use a custom statement when you are reconciling PayPal balance changes. Use a filtered transaction export when you need a received-payments total for a defined period. If you need a figure for bookkeeping or tax reporting, make the included transaction types, refunds, fees, date basis, and currency treatment explicit; a PayPal statement total is not a substitute for defining that figure.
