X added a public Bookmark count to posts on March 16, 2023. The number shows how many times a post has been bookmarked; it does not reveal who saved it. X’s current Help Center says anyone can see the count, with availability listed for iOS.

When did Twitter add public Bookmark counts?

X’s official product timeline dates the feature update to March 16, 2023. The entry describes it as an update that lets users see the total number of times a post has been bookmarked. Twitter had introduced Bookmarks as a save-for-later feature on February 28, 2018, and said at launch that “only you can see what you’ve bookmarked.”

What does the Bookmark number on an X post mean?

X Help defines the metric as the “total number of times a post has been bookmarked.” It is an aggregate count of saves, not a list of people who saved the post. A Bookmark indicates that someone chose to keep a post for later, which is a different kind of action from liking or reposting it.

Can people see who bookmarked your post?

No. X says it shows the total number of Bookmarks, “not the specific accounts that have added a post to their Bookmarks.” Bookmarks themselves remain private to the person who created them. X’s developer documentation describes endpoints for an authenticated user to view, add, and remove that user’s bookmarks; it does not make another user’s saved-post list public.

Who can see Bookmark counts, and where are they available?

X Help says Bookmark counts are available on all posts and that anyone on X can see them. Its current device-availability listing names iOS. Availability can change as X updates the service, so the Help Center is the place to check if you do not see a count in your app.

Do Bookmarks increase reach on X?

A Bookmark count can show that people saved a post, but it does not establish why they saved it or what the platform will do with that signal. X’s cited product and Help materials do not provide a usage-rate benchmark or evidence that Bookmarks directly improve a post’s ranking or reach. Treat the count as a visible measure of saves, not proof of a distribution boost.
