Chrome Journeys groups related browsing visits into topic-based clusters, making it easier to return to a browsing thread than to scan a strictly chronological history list. Google’s release notes record Journeys on Android in Chrome 106 and as a desktop New Tab page card in Chrome 113; those historical entries do not confirm that the same interface is available in every current Chrome version.
What Chrome Journeys does
Journeys is a view of browsing history that organizes related visits around a topic rather than showing only a time-ordered list. In a September 2021 report, Chrome Unboxed observed groups built around keywords or other related data, including related pages that could come from different websites. That is an account of the feature in the build examined, not a published Google technical specification.
The feature’s early developer flag was named “Memories.” Its description was “Enables chrome://history/journeys.” In the build covered by that report, chrome://memories did not work, while chrome://history/journeys opened the Journeys view. Chrome Unboxed’s 2021 report documents that early behavior.
Where Journeys appeared in Chrome
Google’s release notes record Journeys on more than one Chrome surface, at different points in the product’s history:

How Journeys differs from ordinary history
Ordinary browser history is primarily useful when you remember when you visited a page or can recognize its title in a list. Journeys’ distinguishing idea is grouping visits by related subject, so a browsing thread can be easier to find even when its pages span multiple sites. The available descriptions do not establish how groups are generated in current Chrome or whether every user sees the feature.

What is known about privacy
Google’s general Chrome privacy help describes choices around using data for personalization and says Incognito helps protect browsing from other people who use the device. It does not explain Journeys-specific collection, storage, syncing, or retention. Those product-specific details cannot be inferred from the general privacy overview. “Memories” was the name of an experimental developer flag associated with opening the Journeys history view in the 2021 report. The article also speculated about a broader future combination of History, Collections, Reading List, Assistant, and account activity. That speculation is not evidence that Google launched or promised a unified service joining those products.
