Google’s desktop visual-search experience in Chrome is Google Lens, not the Android feature called Circle to Search. Lens lets you select or search content visible in a browser tab and view results there. Google has described its expansion to desktop as part of a broader push for visual search, but its public support material still documents Circle to Search as an Android feature.
Is Circle to Search coming to desktop Chrome?
There is a closely related visual-search feature in desktop Chrome, but Google identifies it as Google Lens in Chrome. Google Search product lead Rose La Prairie described Lens as an expansion of visual-search experiences to desktop, while Google’s support documentation describes Circle to Search specifically for selected Android phones. That distinction matters: the available documentation does not establish that the Android feature itself has launched in Chrome under the Circle to Search name.
Google says Lens in Chrome can search what is visible while browsing, including an image, a video, or a slide in a livestream, and show results in the tab so you can continue browsing. See Google’s description of Lens in Chrome.
How to use Google Lens in Chrome
Chrome’s Lens interaction lets you select visible page content and search it. In an August 2024 account of the rollout, 9to5Google described clicking and dragging over content, then refining the search in a side panel. That report also noted that access points varied by operating system and rollout stage; those details are historical examples, not guaranteed current instructions.

The official material available here does not establish a current Chrome version and operating-system compatibility matrix or a single up-to-date menu path. If Lens is available in your Chrome installation, look for its Lens entry point in the browser interface and follow the on-screen selection prompt. What Circle to Search can do on supported Android phones
On Android, Circle to Search lets you search without switching away from the app on screen. Google’s feature page describes it as a way to search things you see on your phone; its support page explains the activation gesture and supported-device qualification. Those phone-specific instructions do not describe how to use Lens in desktop Chrome.

Newer multi-object and outfit search features
In a February 25, 2026 announcement, Google said searching for multiple objects in one image was available on Samsung Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 devices, with more Android devices to follow. Google described uses such as identifying outfit components. Virtual try-on availability depends on device and country; the support page names selected Pixel models and Australia, Canada, India, Japan, the UK, and the US for the documented try-on experience. These are Android capabilities, not established Chrome Lens features. Google also reported that Circle to Search had been used for “billions of queries per month” since launch; that is a company-reported figure, not an independently audited statistic.

In desktop Chrome, Google Lens provides a related way to select and search visible browser content. It is not documented as the same Android long-press-and-circle interaction: the desktop experience is tied to Chrome and its Lens interface. The documented Chrome feature searches browser content, while Circle to Search works on supported Android phones.

Neither feature is shown to require new computer hardware. Availability of Lens can depend on platform and rollout, and the cited official material does not give a complete current desktop compatibility matrix.
