Google’s cough and snore activity feature is no longer merely “on its way”: Google currently documents it for Pixel phones in Clock’s Bedtime area and Digital Wellbeing. It records activity for informational purposes, not medical diagnosis, and Google says nighttime audio is processed on the phone.
What the cough and snore feature does
The feature tracks cough and snore activity during sleep and displays it alongside Bedtime information. Google’s support documentation describes it for Pixel phones; it does not establish that the feature works on every Android phone.
Google says audio is analyzed during the night and processed on the Pixel device. That is Google’s description of its handling of the audio, not an independent verification of how the feature operates.
How to find cough and snore activity on a Pixel
Use the Clock app
- Open Clock and tap Bedtime.
- If prompted under Show cough and snore activity, tap Continue and allow access.
- On the Bedtime screen, switch between Bedtime activity and Cough and snore to view the available activity.
Use Digital Wellbeing settings
- Open Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
- Choose Show cough and snore activity.
- Open Digital Wellbeing again. Google says cough and snore data will then appear under Bedtime mode.
Can any Android phone detect snoring?
Google’s current help page identifies Pixel phones, but does not provide a complete list of supported models, a minimum Android or app version, or country-by-country availability. If you do not see the setting, Google’s documentation does not establish whether your particular phone or region is supported. Do not assume the feature is available on every device running Android or Digital Wellbeing.

Older reports can add context but not a definitive compatibility list. In September 2022, 9to5Google reported finding the feature in a Digital Wellbeing beta APK and said its device availability was then unclear. In October 2023, a Google Pixel Community manager said a visibility issue had been fixed for a Pixel 8 Pro user. That reply addresses a specific issue at that time; it does not confirm support across all Pixel models.
Manage permissions and erase bedtime data
Google’s Bedtime instructions provide data controls in Clock > Bedtime > Manage data. The controls include erasing bedtime sensor data and removing permissions. Review the settings on your phone if you want to stop access or clear that data.

What the feature cannot tell you
Google’s Pixel Phone Help documentation says: “The Digital Wellbeing app is not intended to be used for medical purposes.” Google also says it does not guarantee results and advises people with health concerns to talk to a healthcare provider. Treat cough and snore activity as informational tracking, not as a diagnosis of sleep apnea, an illness, or another condition.
