Does the Pixel 7 support cough and snore detection?
Yes. Google lists both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro as supporting cough and snore detection through the phone’s Bedtime and Digital Wellbeing experience. The feature uses machine learning to analyze acoustic patterns, including their frequencies and durations, to distinguish coughs from snores. Google describes the feature and its supported devices.
How to turn it on from the Clock app
Before you begin, update Digital Wellbeing from Google Play if an update is available. Google says the feature requires the latest version of the app. Then follow these steps:
- Open the Clock app.
- Tap Bedtime.
- Under Show cough and snore activity, tap Continue.
- When prompted, tap Allow.
If you have already set up Bedtime, look for the cough and snore activity option in its settings. Menu wording and placement can vary with Android and app versions.

Does Pixel record audio, and what happens to it?
Google says cough and snore detection does not store raw audio. Its description says acoustic frequencies are processed on the device and converted into numerical representations for the machine-learning system. Google also identifies the feature as running in Android’s Private Compute Core, an isolated environment separated from the rest of Android and apps. See Google’s feature explanation and Google’s privacy engineering overview.
