Song Peel offers three ways to split a song, and the right one depends on what you want to keep: use AI Vocal Remover for an instrumental, AI Acapella Extractor for an isolated vocal, or Karaoke Maker for a karaoke backing track. The first two use AI stem separation and show a $3 full-song purchase option after previewing; Karaoke Maker is free and uses a different, stereo-dependent method.
Which Song Peel vocal-splitting tool should you choose?

Choose by output first, then consider the source mix. Song Peel describes Vocal Remover and Acapella Extractor as stem-separation tools rather than simple channel muting. Karaoke Maker instead uses OOPS, which relies on the way a stereo mix is arranged and is less suitable for mono or complex material.
How to remove vocals or extract an acapella
- Open Song Peel’s AI Vocal Remover if you want to keep the instrumental, or its AI Acapella Extractor if you want to keep the vocal.
- Upload your song. Both pages list WAV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and FLAC support, with a maximum file size of 500MB.
- Let the tool process the audio, then preview the result. Listen closely to the chorus, where vocal bleed and separation glitches are often easier to notice.
- If the preview suits your needs, use the page’s “Buy Full Song ($3)” option to purchase the full processed song. Song Peel’s pages present this price as part of the preview-to-purchase flow; they do not establish whether it is recurring or applicable beyond that stated purchase.
For an instrumental, the remover is intended to bring forward the beat, chords, bass, and other arrangement elements by removing the lead vocal. For an acapella, the extractor isolates the singer for uses such as remixing or studying phrasing, timing, harmony, and breath placement.
How to make a karaoke track with Song Peel
- Open Song Peel’s Karaoke Maker.
- Upload a stereo song and convert it to a backing track. The page lists WAV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and FLAC support and a 500MB maximum file size.
- Preview the result to check how much vocal remains and whether the instrumental has been affected.
Karaoke Maker is free and uses OOPS, or out-of-phase stereo cancellation. Song Peel says it works well only when the song is stereo and the vocals are perfectly centered. If a track is mono, has a complex arrangement, or does not have centered vocals, try AI Vocal Remover instead.

What affects the quality of a vocal split?
Separation depends on how clearly the vocal differs from the accompaniment in the source recording. A clean, high-quality file with a centered lead vocal and a balanced stereo mix generally gives the tools more to work with. Dense production, stacked harmonies, heavy ad-libs, modulation, wide harmonies, effects, and live-room sound can leave vocal bleed or other artifacts. These are limitations of separating blended audio, not guarantees that every result will be clean.
- Start with the best source you have. A higher-quality original gives the processor a better input than a low-quality copy.
- Check the chorus first. It often contains backing vocals and fuller instrumentation that make bleed or glitches more apparent.
- Match your tolerance to the use. A small amount of residual vocal may be fine for home practice, but can be more noticeable in a recording or performance.
- Use the right method for the mix. OOPS cancellation is specifically dependent on stereo placement; AI stem separation is the better candidate for complex or mono material.
What to expect before using the tools
All three reviewed pages list the same supported formats—WAV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and FLAC—and a 500MB maximum upload. The two AI tools show a preview followed by a $3 full-song purchase option. Karaoke Maker is presented as free. These workflows differ, so do not assume that the free karaoke conversion and paid full-song AI output are interchangeable.
