A July 2026 report says Chrome 150 also removed the settings page. That interface change has not been confirmed in an official Google release note, so check the settings in your installed Chrome version rather than relying on old instructions.
What were Chrome’s Ad privacy settings?
Google announced a gradual rollout of revised “Ad privacy controls” in July 2023, targeting completion by mid-August that year. The controls replaced the trial version of Chrome’s Privacy Sandbox settings. They were intended to give users ways to manage three advertising functions:

These descriptions reflect the technologies’ intended roles, not proof of their privacy effects or a promise that the controls remain available. Google’s original mapping is in its July 2023 announcement.
What happened to the technologies behind the controls?
On October 17, 2025, Google said it had decided to retire Topics, Protected Audience, and Attribution Reporting, along with several other Privacy Sandbox technologies. Google attributed the decision to ecosystem feedback about their expected value and low adoption, and said phase-out would follow Chrome and Android processes. The retirement decision and its stated rationale are Google’s; the announcement does not provide adoption percentages or quantify privacy outcomes.

Google’s list also named IP Protection, On-Device Personalization, Private Aggregation (including Shared Storage), Protected App Signals, Related Website Sets and related APIs, SelectURL, and SDK Runtime. Read the full Google update on Privacy Sandbox’s next steps.
Where did the Ad Privacy settings page go?
A July 2026 report from PiunikaWeb says Chrome 150 removed the Ad Privacy page and that opening chrome://settings/adPrivacy redirects to the main Settings page. The report describes the change as unannounced by Google. Google’s older support documentation still describes the former controls, and the available information does not include an official Chrome release note confirming the reported behavior.

Because the report is not an official confirmation and interface behavior can vary by version or platform, check your own installation. If the old address takes you to general Settings or the Ad privacy section is absent, the old instructions do not match your current browser. PiunikaWeb’s account is available in its report on Chrome 150.

Availability depends on what your installed version currently shows. Open Chrome Settings and look for “Ad privacy” or “Ad topics”; you can also try chrome://settings/adPrivacy in the address bar. If the page or setting appears, follow the controls displayed there. If it redirects or the option is missing, there is no basis to assume the old control is still available in that version. Google’s retirement announcement concerns the underlying Privacy Sandbox technologies, while the Chrome 150 page removal is reported by a third party rather than confirmed in an official release note.

Google’s 2023 post introduced the controls and their intended functions; it does not establish that they remain usable after the later retirement decision. Avoid treating old screenshots or help pages as proof of what your current Chrome build can do.
