AOC’s two new G4 gaming monitors take different routes: the 27-inch U27G4XM combines 4K resolution and MiniLED local dimming with a lower-resolution, high-refresh mode, while the 24.5-inch 25G4KUR prioritizes very high refresh at 1080p. The choice is chiefly between resolution and dimming features on one side, and a higher refresh-rate ceiling on the other. Specifications and UK prices below come from AOC’s product pages; independent performance testing is not available in the cited sources.

The specifications in this comparison are manufacturer listings unless otherwise noted. See AOC’s U27G4XM product page and 25G4KUR product page for their UK listings. BetaNews reported UK launch prices of £399.99 for the U27G4XM and £209.99 for the 25G4KUR; those are launch figures, not the current starting prices shown on AOC’s pages. BetaNews’ announcement was last updated January 2, 2026.

What the U27G4XM offers

The U27G4XM is the larger, higher-resolution option. AOC lists a 27-inch 3840 × 2160 Fast IPS panel, a MiniLED backlight, and 1,152 local-dimming zones. Its Dual Frame Mode provides a choice between 160Hz at UHD and 320Hz at FHD, according to the manufacturer. Switching to FHD raises the stated refresh ceiling but reduces resolution; it is not a way to get both 4K detail and 320Hz simultaneously.

AOC also lists VESA Certified DisplayHDR 1000, Adaptive Sync, NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, a USB hub, and picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes. Its page specifies a 1ms GtG response time. These are listed capabilities, not independent measurements of motion clarity, input lag, HDR brightness in use, or image quality.

What the 25G4KUR offers

The 25G4KUR is a smaller 24.5-inch Fast IPS monitor with a fixed FHD resolution of 1920 × 1080. AOC lists 400Hz as its native refresh rate and up to 420Hz when overclocked. The overclocked figure is not the same as the native specification and requires enabling the monitor’s overclocking mode.

Which one fits your use?

Choose the U27G4XM if resolution and dimming matter more

  • You want a 4K-capable 27-inch screen for games and other detailed content.
  • You value MiniLED local dimming and the manufacturer’s DisplayHDR 1000 certification.
  • You want the option of a 320Hz FHD mode, accepting the resolution drop when using that mode.
  • You need the listed HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, or PiP/PbP features.

Consider the 25G4KUR if refresh rate is the priority

  • You prefer a compact 24.5-inch screen and are content with 1080p.
  • You want AOC’s listed 400Hz native refresh, with 420Hz available through overclocking.
  • You would rather pay the lower UK starting price shown on AOC’s page than opt for the 4K MiniLED model.

Neither specification sheet proves which monitor will feel better in a particular game. The sources cited here do not provide independent measurements of input lag or comparative image-quality tests, so treat response time, refresh, HDR, and performance statements as manufacturer claims rather than verified results.

Price, availability, and model names

AOC’s UK product pages showed starting prices of £349.00 for the U27G4XM and £178.97 for the 25G4KUR when accessed in 2026, with availability through UK retail stores. Prices and stock may change. BetaNews’ reported launch prices—£399.99 and £209.99 respectively—refer to launch context and should not be read as current prices. These sources establish UK listings only; they do not establish availability or pricing in other countries.

Check the full model names when comparing listings: this announcement covers the U27G4XM and 25G4KUR, not the similarly named 27G4ZR or 24G4ZR. AOC lists 100 × 100 mm VESA mounting for both models, which may suit a compatible monitor arm; check the arm’s load rating and fit. AOC’s product pages indicate HDMI and DisplayPort cables are included, so those cables are not necessary add-ons based on the listings.
