Accenture said the deal would expand its silicon design and engineering capabilities. It did not disclose the transaction’s financial terms.
What Excelmax adds to Accenture
Excelmax provided custom silicon solutions for consumer devices, data centers, AI and computational platforms supporting edge AI deployments. Accenture also identified clients in automotive, telecommunications and high tech. The announcement describes a services business spanning high-level design through detailed physical layout ready for manufacturing, as well as turnkey execution; it does not describe Excelmax as a chip manufacturer.
Accenture said the acquisition added approximately 450 professionals. That is the approximate team figure in Accenture’s announcement, not an independently audited headcount. The company listed these areas of expertise:
- Emulation
- Automotive
- Physical design
- Analog design
- Logic design
- Verification
Accenture’s announcement also says Excelmax was founded in 2019. Accenture’s July 8 announcement describes the company’s work and the capabilities it said came with the acquisition.

Why Accenture said it made the acquisition
Accenture characterized the deal as a way to strengthen its silicon design and engineering capabilities from concept to production. Karthik Narain, Accenture’s group chief executive—Technology, said: “Our acquisition of Excelmax enhances our expertise across every aspect of silicon design and development—from concept to production—so we can help our clients fuel innovation and drive growth.”
That statement sets out Accenture’s rationale; it does not establish what business results the acquisition later produced. Excelmax founder and CEO Shekhar Patil said: “Joining Accenture enables us to remain at the forefront of innovation, providing new and exciting opportunities for both our clients and our people.” Both comments appeared in Accenture’s announcement.
How the deal fits Accenture’s silicon design activity
In an announcement dated July 10, 2024, about its acquisition of Cientra, Accenture said Excelmax had been added earlier that week. It also cited XtremeEDA, an Ottawa-based silicon design services company added in 2022. These announcements place Excelmax within a sequence of disclosed capability additions, but do not establish the relative value or subsequent success of the deals.
Accenture’s Cientra announcement provides that context.

Accenture announced the acquisition on July 8, 2024, but did not disclose the purchase price or other transaction terms.
