The WiMiUS L1 is a basic Wi-Fi action camera whose top advertised video mode is 4K at 24 frames per second—not 4K at 30 fps. In Gizmochina’s 2017 review, the footage and stills were considered reasonable for a low-cost camera, but 4K detail was limited and recorded sound was poor. Those findings describe an old test, not the L1’s performance under current conditions.
What camera did the reviewers test?
The L1 was sold as a budget Wi-Fi action camera. The available hands-on reviews date to 2017: Gizmochina’s review was updated on May 26, while Techplayboy also documented a physical inspection and recording tests. They provide a historical picture of the camera and its package, not evidence of current retail availability or a present-day retest.
Does the WiMiUS L1 record true 4K?
Gizmochina identifies the L1’s highest video setting as 4K at 24 fps. WiMiUS’s own May 22, 2017 feature post also lists 4K/24fps, alongside 1080p at 60 or 30 fps and 720p at 120 fps. The brand-associated listing is a historical specification claim; the independent review is the stronger source for how the footage looked. Gizmochina’s 2017 review and WiMiUS’s 2017 feature post describe those modes.
The distinction matters if you expect 4K at 30 fps. The documented 4K mode is 24 fps, while lower-resolution settings can record at higher frame rates. Gizmochina describes 2.5K at 30 fps as smoother than its 4K footage because of the higher frame rate. That trade-off is useful for choosing between resolution and motion smoothness, but it does not establish how the camera performs with current playback or editing software.

How good are the L1’s video, photos, and audio?
In Gizmochina’s 2017 assessment, video and still-image quality were reasonable for the camera’s low-cost class. The reviewer nevertheless wanted more detail from 4K footage and judged the audio recording poor. These are subjective observations from that review, not measurements or results from a current test.
Gizmochina captured sample footage using a Zhiyun Rider-M gimbal. Techplayboy also says its reviewer recorded at several resolutions and frame rates, but neither account establishes performance in conditions beyond the reviewers’ own tests. Buyers should not treat “4K” alone as proof of detailed footage, nor assume usable sound for speech-heavy recordings.

What comes with the camera, and can it go underwater?
The 2017 reviews describe a waterproof housing and assorted mounts, as well as two batteries in the package. Techplayboy reports that the two batteries in the unit it reviewed were 1000mAh each and that its package did not include an external charger. Those package observations apply to the reviewed sample; they do not guarantee what a seller might include today. Techplayboy’s hands-on review covers its package and physical inspection.
The housing—not the bare camera—is the relevant part of the underwater claim. WiMiUS’s 2017 post lists a 30-meter waterproof-case claim, and a third-party transcription of a manual repeats that figure. The original manual’s date and current manufacturer status are not established, so regard 30 meters as a historical case claim, not a guarantee for a used unit or a promise of safe operation at that depth. Inspect the housing, seals, latch, and fit before any water use.

The same third-party manual transcription lists microSD storage and recording modes, but it is not a verified current manufacturer manual. Check the camera and seller’s documentation for the supported card type and capacity before buying a card. Manuals.plus’ transcription can help identify historical details, but should not replace current, model-specific documentation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the WiMiUS L1 worth buying now?
The available evidence supports a narrow conclusion: the L1 offered a 24-fps 4K mode, a collection of practical mounts, and a separate waterproof housing, while a 2017 independent reviewer found limited 4K detail and poor sound. Whether it is worthwhile today depends on the condition and completeness of the individual unit, and on whether its 4K frame rate and audio limitations suit your use.
