Netflix Games can be played on Chromecast with Google TV, but that does not mean every Google TV device or model has access. Netflix first included Chromecast with Google TV in its limited TV beta in August 2023; game availability still depends on the exact device and Netflix’s rollout. On a TV, use the Netflix Game Controller app on a compatible phone. On a computer, play through Netflix.com in a supported browser with a keyboard and mouse.
Does Netflix Games work on Chromecast with Google TV?
Yes, Chromecast with Google TV was among the TV devices in Netflix’s initial game-streaming test, announced on 14 August 2023. Netflix also documents Chromecast with Google TV as a supported Netflix device. However, Netflix says some TVs may not show games because their hardware capabilities or manufacture year make them unsupported. Support for Netflix video therefore does not guarantee that games are available on a particular Chromecast or TV.
Netflix reported rollout updates through Brazil on 27 April 2026, but that does not establish that every game or TV device is available in every country. Check Netflix’s current game and device guidance for your location and exact model before troubleshooting or buying hardware.
How to play on a TV
- Open Netflix on a compatible TV or streaming device and check whether games are available on that device.
- Install the Netflix Game Controller app on a compatible iOS or Android phone.
- Start a game on the TV and use the phone app as its controller.
Netflix currently says physical gamepads and other controllers are not supported for TV play. The first games named in the 2023 beta announcement were Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure; that announcement describes the initial test, not a current complete games list.

Playing on a PC or Mac
Netflix’s announced computer test lets members play through Netflix.com in a supported browser, using a keyboard and mouse. Netflix’s broader supported-device guidance also covers Mac, Windows and Chromebook computers through supported browsers or the Windows app. These are computer options distinct from TV play, which uses the phone controller app.
TV and computer options compared
| Where you play | How to access games | Controls | Key compatibility check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chromecast with Google TV or another compatible TV device | Netflix on the TV; games must be available for the exact device and rollout | Netflix Game Controller app on an iOS or Android phone | Check the exact model, hardware capability and manufacture year against Netflix’s current guidance |
| PC, Mac or Chromebook | Netflix.com in a supported browser; Netflix’s broader guidance also mentions the Windows app for Windows computers | Keyboard and mouse for the computer test | Use a supported browser or app and confirm game availability for your account and location |
Why games may not appear on your TV
Netflix identifies hardware capability and manufacture year as reasons a TV may not be supported. Its initial device list included Fire TV streaming media players, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, NVIDIA Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs, Xfinity 4K devices, and Xumo devices and TVs. That list describes the initial TV partners, not a guarantee for every model in those families today.

- Check the exact model: A device brand or operating-system name alone does not confirm game support.
- Check current Netflix guidance: Netflix says it adds devices over time, so older launch information may not reflect current availability.
- Check the controller setup: TV play requires the phone app; a physical gamepad is not currently supported.
- Distinguish Netflix from Netflix Games: A device can support Netflix streaming without meeting the requirements for games.
