To hide the Search button at the bottom of your iPhone Home Screen, go to Settings > Home Screen & App Library and turn off the option to show Search on the Home Screen. This hides the button; you can still open Spotlight by swiping down on the Home Screen or Lock Screen.
Turn off the Home Screen Search button
-
Open Settings.
-
Tap Home Screen & App Library.
-
Turn off the option for showing Search on the Home Screen. Apple lists this control in that section; its exact wording may vary by iOS version or language. See Apple’s iPhone Settings reference.
-
Return to the Home Screen to see the change.
How to search after hiding the button
Swipe down from the middle of the Home Screen or Lock Screen to open Spotlight, then enter your search. Apple describes the Home Screen Search button for iPhone models with Face ID, and documents the swipe-down gesture as another way to search. Learn more about Spotlight on iPhone.
What this setting does—and does not do
The setting controls whether the Search button appears on the Home Screen. It does not disable Spotlight or remove apps from search results. To manage which apps can appear in Spotlight results, use the separate controls under Settings > Search; those are not the controls for hiding the Home Screen button. Apple’s Spotlight guide covers both behaviors.

Optional: hide a Home Screen page
If you want to reduce clutter beyond removing the Search button, you can hide a Home Screen page. Apps on a hidden page remain available in the App Library. This is a separate Home Screen change, not a step required to hide Search. See Apple’s guide to organising the Home Screen and App Library.
