Google Home and Nest alerts have also been reported missing on some Pixel 9 phones, but the published reports do not establish a single cause or a dependable fix.
Is the problem delayed notifications or alerts that never arrive?
These symptoms can have different causes. Some Pixel 9 Pro owners have described alerts arriving more than 30 minutes late, including WhatsApp, Messenger, email, and phone-call notifications. Those reports appear in a user-generated Google Pixel Community thread opened January 17, 2025; they do not amount to a Google-confirmed bug or establish how widespread the issue is. A separate, particularly visible report concerned Google Home notifications from Nest cameras and doorbells. Android Authority reported on September 13, 2024, that some Pixel 9 owners stopped receiving those alerts after switching phones. Clearing Google Home’s app data or cache, or reinstalling the app, helped some people but was not a reliable fix. Read Android Authority’s report.
If only one app is affected, start with that app’s settings and notification access. If several unrelated apps are affected, check system-wide settings and updates. If the phone receives alerts but groups or delays how they appear, review its notification features before assuming delivery has failed.

Check notification settings and grouping
- Open Settings → Notifications and confirm notifications are enabled for the affected app. Review the app’s available notification categories as well.
- Check Notification Summaries and Notification organizer. In the organizer’s exclusion list, make sure the affected app is not under Don’t include these apps. Google says Notification organizer is on by default and can sort Promotions and News, as well as Social and Suggested notifications. Google’s Pixel notification-feature guidance.
- If you use AI notification features, check their eligibility and settings. AI Summaries are available on Pixel 9 and later, excluding A-series devices, require English or Japanese, and work only for included apps. Notification organizer requires English and is available in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US. These features can affect how notifications are grouped or presented; their presence alone does not show that a notification was lost.
- For AI notification features, open Settings → Notifications → Privacy → Notification read, reply & control and check whether Android System Intelligence is allowed. Temporarily turn off Battery Saver while troubleshooting, then restart the phone.
Update apps and Android, then test again
Install available updates for the affected app and other apps from the Play Store, then check for a system update in Settings. Google says Pixel updates roll out gradually and include bug fixes, so an update may not appear for every device at the same time. Check Google’s Pixel update guidance.
Android 15 began rolling out to Pixel devices on October 15, 2024, according to Google’s Android platform announcement. That date is useful context for reports from the period, but the announcement does not establish Android 15 as the cause of Pixel 9 notification problems.

Use Safe Mode to check for interference from another app
Safe Mode temporarily disables downloaded apps. If notifications work there, a downloaded third-party app is a likely contributor. Google’s instructions explain how to start Safe Mode and return to normal mode; remove recently installed apps one at a time and test again. Google’s Pixel troubleshooting guide.
If the symptom is part of a broader connectivity problem, Google also lists resetting network settings among its troubleshooting options. Treat that as a targeted step for connectivity symptoms, not a general notification fix. A factory reset is a last resort after other troubleshooting; back up the phone first because a reset removes its data. Use Google’s current instructions rather than resetting solely because one app’s alerts are absent.

If only Google Home or Nest alerts are missing
Confirm Google Home is allowed to send notifications in Android settings and check the relevant alert settings in the Home app. If those settings look correct, clearing Google Home’s cache or app data, or reinstalling it, may be worth trying. The 2024 report found that these steps helped some affected users but did not provide a dependable fix, so do not assume they will resolve the problem.
