Camtasia for Windows 2022.0.0, released on 7 June 2022, introduced expanded cursor editing, a new Blend Mode effect and a redesigned Home experience. The release also connected Camtasia with TechSmith Audiate for transcript-based editing. These details apply to the Windows release; Camtasia for Mac followed a separate 2022 release timeline.
What changed in Camtasia 2022?
TechSmith’s Camtasia Windows 2022 Version History dates version 2022.0.0 to 7 June 2022. Its launch notes group the changes around cursor control, visual effects, project navigation and an Audiate editing handoff.

How cursor editing works in Camtasia 2022
The Windows release expanded what editors could do with cursor data captured by Camtasia Recorder. Instead of treating the recorded pointer movement as fixed, users could edit cursor path position using Recorder metadata and adjust paths more directly.
- Add a cursor path to an image, video clip or group.
- Edit the path and scale the cursor, including setting a default cursor scale in preferences.
- Replace recorded raster operating-system cursors with vector equivalents.
TechSmith’s later Windows 2022.3.0 entry, dated 15 November 2022, lists additional cursor controls, including smooth movement across edits and cursor keyframe operations. Those are later 2022 updates, not all part of the 2022.0.0 launch. The version history records the update date and features, but does not establish a performance or productivity gain.

What Blend Mode adds
Blend Mode arrived as a visual effect in Windows 2022.0.0. The release notes specifically identify a hover preview and advanced Blend Range adjustment settings. They do not enumerate named blend modes or claim a rendering-speed improvement, so the supported description is limited to those documented controls.
What changed on the Camtasia Home screen
The redesigned Home experience was intended to remain accessible while a project was open and put common starting points and recent work within reach. Its listed elements included:
- A TechSmith Recorder Flyout.
- Quick access to Templates.
- Recent Projects with thumbnails and project metadata.
- A display for trial and account status.
TechSmith’s Windows 2022.0.3 notes, dated 12 July 2022, describe refinements to the recorder flyout’s animation and click targets. Those refinements followed the initial 7 June release.
How the Audiate handoff fits into editing
The Windows 2022 notes describe sending a video from Camtasia to Audiate for automatic transcription and text-document-style editing. After making transcript-based cuts or edits, users could return the video to Camtasia. Automatic synchronization and stitching were intended to keep timeline items aligned and make follow-up effects and cursor adjustments easier. This is a connected workflow described in the release notes, rather than evidence of a specific editing-speed improvement.

Windows and Mac did not share one release timeline
Do not assume that every Windows 2022 feature arrived in the Mac edition at the same time. TechSmith maintains separate histories for Camtasia for Windows and Camtasia for Mac. The Mac history, for example, records its 2022.1.0 entry on 16 August 2022, including reverse video and Blur Region and Freeze Region effects. Check the version history for the platform and release you use before relying on a feature.
