KCNA-JP is the Japanese-language version of the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate exam, a foundational credential for learners building knowledge of Kubernetes and the wider cloud native ecosystem. It is an online, proctored, multiple-choice exam—not a hands-on administrator test. The Japanese exam listing specifies 90 minutes, two attempts, no prerequisites, and a 12-month period to schedule and take the exam; its listed price is $250, subject to change.
What is the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) JP?
The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) describes KCNA as a pre-professional certification for people interested in cloud native technologies and progressing toward professional credentials. CNCF says the exam demonstrates foundational knowledge and skills in Kubernetes and the wider cloud native ecosystem. It can help establish a base for further study, but passing does not certify production-level operational experience or guarantee employment.
KCNA-JP is the Japanese exam offering listed by The Linux Foundation. Its exam content is available in Japanese, but the listed proctors speak English. Candidates should therefore distinguish the language of exam content from the language of remote proctoring.
What is on the KCNA exam?
The published exam outline divides the test into four domains. Kubernetes Fundamentals is the largest at 44%, but the other three domains together make up 56%, so studying Kubernetes concepts alone is not enough.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Domain | Published weight | Topics to understand |
|---|---|---|
| Kubernetes Fundamentals | 44% | Core Kubernetes concepts, administration, scheduling, and containerization |
| Container Orchestration | 28% | Networking, security, troubleshooting, and storage |
| Cloud Native Application Delivery | 16% | Application delivery and debugging |
| Cloud Native Architecture | 12% | Observability, cloud native ecosystem, and principles |
These percentages are the current domain weights published by CNCF, accessed in 2026. Use the official outline as the authority for scope: it also frames the exam around architecture, cloud native concepts, the wider ecosystem, and basic kubectl use.
KCNA-JP format, eligibility, and cost
The Linux Foundation’s KCNA-JP listing describes an online, proctored, multiple-choice exam and gives a 90-minute duration. It lists no prerequisites. The listing also provides a 12-month window to schedule and take the exam and two attempts. Confirm the current terms on the official page before enrollment, since exam conditions can change.

How to prepare for KCNA in Japanese
Start with CNCF’s open-source KCNA curriculum and the official exam outline. Use the domain weights to allocate attention, but make sure your preparation covers all four areas. The official exam pages also list a preparation handbook and curriculum overview.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Map the outline. Review the current official KCNA curriculum and organize your notes under its four exam domains.
- Build concepts before memorizing terms. Connect Kubernetes fundamentals with orchestration topics such as networking, storage, and security, then relate those concepts to application delivery and cloud native architecture.
- Practice explaining each topic. Check whether you can describe the purpose of core concepts and how they fit into the broader cloud native ecosystem. The exam is multiple choice, but understanding relationships is more useful than memorizing isolated definitions.
- Revisit weaker domains. Use the published weights as a guide, while retaining time for all domains—especially the three smaller areas that collectively account for more than half of the outline.
- Check exam-language details before scheduling. Exam content is listed as available in Japanese, while proctors speak English. Linux Foundation language guidance says candidates may switch among available exam languages in the console when objectives are offered in multiple languages; check its current guidance for the exact options available to KCNA.
Self-study or a Japanese course?
Self-study with the official curriculum is a direct way to align preparation to the exam. The Linux Foundation also lists a Japanese Kubernetes and Cloud Native Essentials course (LFS250-JP) as a course-and-exam bundle option. A course may provide more structure and instruction; it is optional support, not a guaranteed way to pass.
| Option | Language and structure | Listed price at research time | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Self-study with official materials | Open-source curriculum and official exam resources; study structure is self-directed | Curriculum price not stated by CNCF; exam listed at $250 by The Linux Foundation (accessed 2026) | Learners who can plan their own study around the official outline |
| LFS250-JP course-plus-exam bundle | Japanese course option provided by The Linux Foundation | $299 listed by The Linux Foundation (accessed 2026); confirm current checkout price | Learners who prefer a structured Japanese course alongside the exam |
The listed bundle and exam prices differed by $49 when reviewed; both can change. Compare the course’s structure and language with your needs rather than treating the bundle as a pass guarantee.

Is KCNA-JP a good fit?
KCNA-JP is a reasonable fit if you are new to Kubernetes or cloud native technologies and want a structured, foundational credential, or if you want to assess your readiness for deeper study toward professional certifications. It is less suited to someone seeking proof of hands-on production administration: the published exam format is multiple choice, not a practical lab. Treat the credential as evidence of foundational knowledge, then build practical skills through separate hands-on work.
