One of them, Acer’s Chromebook Spin 13, is a convertible that makes a reasonable historical comparison with Google’s Pixelbook—but the available official information does not establish that it was the first Pixelbook rival or that it matched the Pixelbook’s performance.
What “Nami” means
The ChromiumOS developer device table uses nami as a platform or board name associated with multiple retail Chromebooks. Its entries, dated October 26, 2018, include Acer Chromebook 13 / Spin 13 (listed as Akali / Akali360), Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Model 7486, and Lenovo Yoga Chromebook C630. ChromiumOS device table
So a listing or discussion of “Chromebook Nami” does not identify one specific machine. To compare devices meaningfully, use the manufacturer and retail model name—and, where relevant, the exact SKU.
Why the Acer Spin 13 invites a Pixelbook comparison
Google describes the Acer Chromebook 13 as a clamshell with a backlit keyboard, while the Spin 13 has a 360-degree hinge and can be used in tent and tablet modes. That makes the Spin 13’s convertible form a useful point of comparison with a Pixelbook, but it does not make the two products equivalent. Google Cloud Chromebook descriptions

The Nami platform also includes devices from Dell and Lenovo, so the Acer is not the only possible comparison. The right choice of model depends on what you mean by “rival”: convertible design, configuration, update support, price, or performance are separate questions.
Compare exact models, not codenames
Before weighing a Nami device against a Pixelbook, identify the retail model and SKU. Then check the dimensions that matter to your decision:
- Form factor: clamshell or 360-degree convertible.
- Configuration and price: confirm the processor, memory, storage, and actual listing for the specific unit.
- Software support: look up the exact device entry in Google’s update policy.
- Availability and condition: distinguish new stock from used or refurbished listings.
The official product information cited here establishes device identity and form factor, but it does not provide comparable model-to-model benchmarks. It therefore cannot support a claim that the Spin 13—or another Nami device—was faster or better than the Pixelbook.
Update dates depend on the device entry
Google’s update policy lists the Pixelbook for updates through August 2027 and the Acer Chromebook Enterprise Spin 13 (CP713-1WN) through June 2028. These dates apply to the products named in those entries; the enterprise Spin 13 listing should not be treated as the support date for every consumer Spin 13 configuration. Acer’s US store lists one configuration, Spin 13 CP713-1WN-51EA, at $929.99 and marks it out of stock on the accessed listing.
