To stop Chrome’s save-password prompt on every site, turn off Offer to save passwords and passkeys in Google Password Manager. If you only want to silence the prompt on one site, choose Never when Chrome asks.
Turn off save-password prompts on a computer
- Open Chrome and select the three-dot More menu.
- Choose Passwords and autofill, then Google Password Manager.
- Select Settings.
- Turn off Offer to save passwords and passkeys.
Google documents this route in its Chrome password-management help. Some Chrome layouts also provide a shortcut: select the profile icon, choose Passwords, then open Password Manager settings. Shortcut availability and wording can vary by version; Google describes the alternate route in its computer troubleshooting guide.
Turn off the prompt on Android
- Open Chrome and tap More.
- Tap Settings, then Google Password Manager.
- Tap Settings in Password Manager.
- Turn off Offer to save passwords.
Google also documents reaching Password Manager through the Android Settings app in its Android password and passkey instructions. On an enterprise-managed Android device, an administrator may control this setting; check with your organization if the option is unavailable or locked.
Stop Chrome asking on just one website
When Chrome offers to save a password for that site, select Never. This declines the offer for that site without turning off prompts elsewhere. To allow Chrome to offer again, open Google Password Manager settings and remove the site from Declined sites and apps.

What turning off the offer does—and does not do
The setting controls whether Chrome offers to save passwords; it does not delete credentials already stored in Google Password Manager. Saved-password actions such as viewing, editing, deleting, and exporting are separate controls. If you want to remove an existing password, manage that entry separately and use care: deletion is a different action from silencing future prompts.
Can you still save a password manually?
On a computer, Google says you can save a password selectively when the Password icon appears to the right of the address bar: enter your sign-in information, select the icon, then choose Save. This lets you keep automatic offers off while saving a password when you choose to.
