FC 27 makes Champions qualification more accessible: players can earn Champions Qualification Points (CQP) through Rivals or Squad Battles, and reaching Division 6 is no longer required. That change could alter who enters Champions, but EA has not shown that players generally win more as a result. Its published matchmaking factors remain location, current Champions Form, and platform and cross-play settings.
What changed in FC 27 Champions?
EA removed the Division 6 qualification gate and added Squad Battles as another way to earn CQP. Rivals remains an option, with higher divisions earning CQP faster; lower divisions still count. EA’s FC 27 launch update and Champions help page describe the change. Neither source provides a numeric CQP schedule, so there is no supported point-by-point comparison of how quickly each route reaches qualification.

The Champions Finals format remains 15 matches. EA says FC 27 rewards include more CQP and increased FUT Coin rewards compared with FC 26. Its launch update says Champions and Rivals have the potential to reward several times more coins, using roughly 500–600 FUT Coins per match as a typical FC 26 comparison. That is EA’s comparison, not an independent measurement, and it says nothing about match wins.
Does the overhaul mean you might win more?
It is possible the entrant pool or its skill mix will change: players who could not pass the former Division 6 gate can now work toward qualification through either mode. But broader access is not evidence that any particular player—or players generally—will win more in Finals. EA has published no FC 27 post-change win-rate comparison or statistic establishing an increase in expected wins.

Keep the distinction clear: qualification rules affect who can pursue Champions; matchmaking factors describe how EA says it pairs players. EA has not said the qualification change makes the system pair opponents differently, nor described it as a new matchmaking algorithm.

- Current Champions Form: a running value based on results. EA says Form starts at zero, each win adds one, and each loss subtracts one. For example, W/L/L/W/W across the first five matches yields +1.
- Platform and cross-play settings: your enabled cross-play setting and platform generation affect the available matchmaking pool.
EA lists PS4 and Xbox One in one platform-generation grouping, and PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in another. Cross-play must be enabled to use it, and EA says cross-play does not apply to Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. These are the platform details stated in EA’s Champions guidance; they do not imply that every player in a grouping is always matched together.

The documented change is broader qualification, not a confirmed Champions matchmaking overhaul. EA’s October 2, 2026 v1.0.3 patch notes mention improved matchmaking reliability in The Grounds. The listed fix is for that mode; the notes do not identify a Champions matchmaking adjustment.

Community discussion has also included claims that women’s player items are unusually effective and can help users win more. An October 4 Reddit post reflects one player’s view, not measured item superiority, proof of a balance problem, or evidence that EA changed Champions matchmaking. A single post cannot establish what players generally experience.

What FC 27 players should take from the change
- If you were blocked by the former Division 6 requirement, you can now pursue CQP through Rivals or Squad Battles.
- If you prefer PvP, higher Rivals divisions earn CQP faster, though EA has not published numeric rates in the cited guidance.
- If you prefer PvE, Squad Battles is an alternative route; the published information does not establish that it is the quicker route.
- Do not treat increased access, coin-reward comparisons, community claims, or a patch note for The Grounds as proof that Champions players will win more.
