NVIDIA’s latest results show extraordinary AI-led growth, but they do not by themselves establish that the stock is cheap or expensive. For the quarter ended July 26, 2026, NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in revenue, including $89.0 billion from Data Center, and guided to approximately $108 billion in revenue for the next quarter. That guidance is management’s outlook, not a reported result. Investors weighing NVDA should set those figures against the company’s execution risks and their own valuation assumptions; analyst targets are estimates, not promised returns.

What NVIDIA’s latest results say about its growth

In its August 26, 2026 earnings release, NVIDIA reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $96.221 billion, up 18% sequentially and 106% year over year. Data Center revenue was $89.0 billion, up 18% sequentially and 117% year over year. GAAP gross margin was 75.0%, GAAP net income was $59.688 billion, and GAAP diluted earnings per share (EPS) was $2.46; non-GAAP diluted EPS was $2.22. These are company-reported results (NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 results).

NVIDIA said it expected approximately $108 billion in Q3 FY2027 revenue. That is a forecast from management, not a result or guarantee. The Associated Press reported that Q2 non-GAAP EPS exceeded the FactSet consensus of $2.09 and revenue exceeded its average forecast of $92.27 billion; those comparisons are attributed to AP/FactSet rather than NVIDIA (Associated Press coverage of the results).

The preceding fiscal year also showed strong growth, though with evidence that growth does not eliminate margin pressure. NVIDIA reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $215.9 billion, up 65% year over year. Data Center revenue grew 68%, Gaming 41%, Professional Visualization 70%, and Automotive 39%. Its 10-K said gross margin declined during the transition from Hopper HGX systems to Blackwell full-scale data-center solutions and was affected by a $4.5 billion H20 excess-inventory and purchase-obligation charge (NVIDIA fiscal 2026 Form 10-K).

Is NVIDIA stock overvalued?

The available figures do not establish that NVDA is either overvalued or undervalued. Fast revenue growth and bullish analyst sentiment are not substitutes for a valuation calculation. To judge whether the share price is reasonable, compare it with a defined earnings or cash-flow period, state the price and date used, and examine the growth and profitability assumptions required to support it. Then compare that basis with relevant historical or peer multiples calculated consistently.

No sufficiently transparent, consistently dated current P/E or peer-multiple comparison is established here, so a specific multiple-based verdict would be misleading. A trailing P/E uses past earnings; a forward P/E depends on estimates that can change. Investors should also distinguish GAAP from non-GAAP earnings and ensure the numerator and denominator dates match. Without those choices being explicit, a headline multiple can suggest more certainty than it deserves.

What risks could affect NVIDIA investors?

Data-center construction depends on more than chips

NVIDIA says customers need land, power, buildings (or “shell”), and capital to build data centers. Shortages or delays in any of them could affect future revenue and financial performance. The company describes expanding these resources as a complex, multi-year process involving regulatory, technical, and construction challenges (NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q).

Supply, ramp execution, and demand estimates

NVIDIA reported supply constraints while ramping next-generation systems. In its filing, it warns that inaccurate demand estimates can produce revenue or supply volatility, quality issues, inventory provisions, lower yields, higher material costs, and warranty costs. Strong demand is not enough on its own: the company also has to deliver systems reliably and manage the transition between product generations (NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q).

Large commitments create exposure if plans change

Supply and capacity commitments reached $279 billion as of July 26, 2026, compared with $119 billion the prior quarter, according to NVIDIA’s filing. The company says it may not be able to reduce those commitments if demand, needs, or plans differ from expectations. Future demand also depends on customers’ ability to generate revenue and sustain investment in infrastructure (NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q PDF).

Export policy and geographic exposure

NVIDIA reported that shipments of Data Center Hopper products to China were less than 1% of Data Center revenue in Q2 FY2027. That is a description of one product category and quarter, not a forecast of future sales or a resolution of how export restrictions may evolve. Policy changes could affect which products NVIDIA can sell and where.

Product mix can move margins

The fiscal 2026 gross-margin decline and H20-related charge illustrate that rapid growth can coexist with transition costs. Future profitability depends in part on product mix, production yields, costs, and execution as new systems ramp; revenue growth alone does not determine earnings growth.

The shares can fall even if the business remains important

NVIDIA’s filings warn that business, financial, operational, or reputational risks could harm results and cause its stock price to decline. A stock’s price can also reflect expectations that are not met, so investors should consider the possibility of loss rather than treating current demand as a floor under the shares.

What do analyst price targets say?

As of its October 6, 2026 update, StockAnalysis reported a Strong Buy consensus and an average target of $328.72 from 61 analysts, attributing the data to S&P Global and TipRanks. The provider says ratings and targets update hourly to every three days (StockAnalysis NVIDIA forecast). MarketBeat displayed a consensus target of $321.89 on the page accessed October 7, 2026 (MarketBeat NVIDIA price target).

The two figures are different snapshots from different aggregations, not values to average without a defined method. A target is an analyst’s estimate for a stated horizon and can be revised; it is neither intrinsic value nor a promise that the stock will reach that price. Consensus labels summarize analyst opinions, not the probability of a return or a personalized recommendation.

How to decide whether NVDA fits your portfolio

Rather than treating a target or one quarter’s growth rate as a buy signal, test the investment case against a consistent set of questions:

  • What earnings or cash-flow period and share-price date are you using for valuation?
  • What growth, margin, and capital-spending assumptions would justify that valuation, and what happens if they weaken?
  • Can NVIDIA and its customers build and supply infrastructure at the pace implied by demand expectations?
  • How much exposure are you willing to take to product transitions, customer investment cycles, supply commitments, and export policy?
  • When comparing NVIDIA with another semiconductor or AI-infrastructure company, are revenue growth, earnings, margins, valuation periods, customer exposure, supply capacity, and policy risks defined on comparable dates and terms?

If the investment case only works under uninterrupted growth, stable margins, and prompt customer buildouts, it is especially sensitive to execution or demand disappointments. If you cannot state the valuation basis and the risks you are accepting, an analyst consensus alone does not answer whether the shares suit your objectives.
