Sombra is now a Support who helps her team with area healing, enemy damage and healing reduction, and Hotfix utility. Play around teammates and useful Cyberspace zones rather than relying on the old Hack-and-pick flank routine. Her current kit is documented in Blizzard’s October 6, 2026 patch notes.
What changed, and what Weaken does instead
Sombra moved from Damage to Support, and her subrole changed from Recon to Tactician. Hack is no longer a normal ability. Blizzard said the ability lockout could feel unexpected, jarring, frustrating, and difficult for opponents to deal with.

Cyberspace gives Sombra a different way to disrupt a fight: enemies in its zone receive Weaken, which reduces their damage and healing output by 50%. It does not silence them, interrupt their abilities, or prevent them from using abilities. Blizzard’s developers described a well-timed Weaken as a way to turn a fight without locking an enemy out of their abilities.
This is a substantial shift in team value, not evidence that the new Sombra is stronger or weaker. The official patch notes provide kit specifications, not current win rates, rank-based results, matchup data, or proof of an optimal build.

Use Cyberspace where it can help both teams
Cyberspace is a projectile that explodes into a zone with a 5-meter radius lasting 3 seconds. Its initial explosion deals 40 damage to enemies and heals allies for 40. While the zone remains, it deals 25 damage per second to enemies and heals allies for 30 per second. Enemies in it are Weakened.
Look for moments when the same zone can support allies and pressure enemies—for example, a fight where teammates are taking damage near opponents. The aim is to make its healing and Weaken matter together, rather than throwing it at an isolated target just to deal damage. There is no universally best placement established by the patch notes; timing and location depend on the fight.

Spend Hotfix on meaningful support or utility
Hotfix is Sombra’s secondary-fire ability. It has two charges and an 8-second cooldown. Targeting an ally heals 65 immediately, then 25 per second, for up to 175 healing or 12 seconds.
Hotfix can also hack health packs and most enemy deployables without consuming a charge. That interaction has a separate 6-second cooldown and can be interrupted by damage. Use it when the health pack or deployable is useful to your team and you can safely complete the interaction; taking damage can interrupt it while still triggering the separate cooldown.

In practice, reserve ally-directed Hotfix for a moment when its healing could help an ally survive or keep contributing. The ability details do not establish a universal priority between healing and hacking objects, so make that choice based on the fight.
Reposition with the new Translocator timing in mind
Translocator and stealth still give Sombra options to reposition, but older advice may assume mobility timings that no longer apply. The October 2026 kit has a 12.25-meter Translocator projectile range and a 7.5-second cooldown. Stealth lasts 6.5 seconds, but entering stealth takes 0.75 seconds. The movement-speed bonus now starts immediately after teleporting.

Plan where you want to go and how you will leave before committing to a forward position. The shorter range and longer stealth-entry time make it unwise to assume that a distant escape or near-instant stealth is available. Staying close enough to support teammates is a reasonable baseline for a Support, while stealth and Translocator can still help you adjust your position.

EMP
EMP remains Sombra’s ultimate. Its cost increased by 67.5%, and its damage decreased from 25% to 20% of current health. It is no longer accurate to describe routine Hack-style ability shutdown as part of her normal ability loop; the rework removes Hack as an ability while retaining EMP.

- Life Hack (minor): EMP applies Hotfix to nearby allies.
- Data Packet (major): Hacking a health pack with Hotfix reduces its main cooldown by 4 seconds.
- Cybersecurity (major): Cyberspace healing doubles on allies below half health.
Choose perks to suit the situation and the way you expect to contribute. Blizzard’s notes list their effects but do not establish a comparative ranking, win-rate advantage, or best perk for a particular map or matchup.
