Check the official wireless-charging specifications for your phone’s exact model and variant. It supports 25W only if the manufacturer explicitly lists a maximum of at least 25W or says it supports Qi2 25W. “Wireless charging,” “Qi,” or “Qi2” alone does not confirm 25W support. The charger must support the matching tier too, and its adapter and your charging setup can affect the result.
How to check your phone’s wireless-charging wattage
- Identify the exact phone model and variant. Check the model name in your phone’s settings or the manufacturer’s account page. Do not rely only on a product-family name: different models in the same line can have different wireless-charging limits.
- Open the manufacturer’s specifications for that model. Look under “Battery,” “Charging,” or “Wireless charging.” Find an explicit maximum wireless-charging rate of at least 25W or a clear Qi2 25W claim. Google, for example, directs Pixel owners to the exact phone’s “Battery and charging” specifications to check supported wattage (Google Pixel phone hardware tech specs).
- Check the charger’s exact model and certification. Look it up in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) product database, rather than relying on a “25W” headline on the box. Google says Qi2 product version numbers start with 2; verify that the listing identifies the charger as Qi2 25W.
- Confirm the rest of the setup. Check the phone and charger makers’ requirements for the power adapter, cable, case, magnetic alignment, and software. A charging icon confirms a connection, not the wattage; use a manufacturer-provided speed indicator or diagnostic if one is available.
Qi2 is not the same as Qi2 25W
The WPC calls Qi v2.2.1 “Qi2 25W.” The earlier Qi2 generation launched at 15 watts, so a specification that says only “Qi2” does not establish support for 25W. The WPC’s July 23, 2025 announcement described 14 receiver and transmitter devices completing certification testing in the initial, limited Qi2 25W launch; that figure describes the launch, not the current number of certified products (WPC announcement on Qi2 25W).
For the full Qi2 25W benefits and speeds, the WPC says both the phone and charger must support Qi2 25W. A charger’s maximum printed output does not raise the phone’s own limit. If the phone supports a lower rate, it will not charge at 25W just because the charger can provide it. See the WPC’s Qi2 overview and Google’s guidance on supported Pixel charging wattage.
Manufacturer examples: verify the specific model
These examples show why the exact phone specification and setup matter; they are not a complete compatibility list.

- Apple: Apple lists MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W for iPhone 17 models. Its support guidance makes that peak conditional on a compatible iPhone, a 30W-or-greater adapter meeting Apple’s stated output, and specified MagSafe charger models. Other iPhones have different limits, and connected accessories can reduce the rate. Check Apple’s wireless charging guidance and the specifications for your exact iPhone model.
- Samsung: Samsung’s UK product page advertises 25W wireless charging for the Galaxy S26 Ultra when paired with its Qi2 25W charger. The page says that charger works with Qi2-supported devices available for Galaxy S25 series or later and advises using a Qi2-supporting device or case for optimal Galaxy charging. This is a specific pairing, not evidence that every Galaxy phone supports 25W (Samsung UK Qi2 25W charger).
- Motorola: Motorola’s UK support page says its moto snap charger supports Qi 2.2. Up to 25W requires a Qi2.2-compatible device; the higher 30W rate in Europe requires a compatible Motorola phone. Motorola also cautions that not all devices reach the maximum (Motorola UK moto snap charger guidance).
What can keep a 25W-capable phone below 25W?
A published maximum is a capability, not a promise that the phone will sustain that rate in every situation. The actual result can depend on the model, charger, adapter, accessories, temperature, and alignment.
- Adapter or cable: Use the power source and cable rating specified by the phone or charger maker. A setup that cannot supply the required input can limit the charger’s output.
- Case and alignment: A case that is incompatible with Qi2 or that interferes with the charging signal can affect charging. Center the phone’s charging coil on the charger; Samsung also advises removing third-party accessories if they block the signal (Samsung wireless charging troubleshooting).
- Heat: Google says a phone that becomes too warm may pause charging and that some Pixel phones adjust charging to manage device and battery temperature (Google Pixel charging guidance).
- Connected accessories: Apple lists lower rates for some iPhone and accessory combinations. Check the conditions for your exact model rather than assuming the phone’s highest listed rate applies while accessories are connected (Apple wireless charging guidance).
Troubleshoot slow or interrupted wireless charging
- Remove the case temporarily and test the phone directly on the charger.
- Reposition the phone so its charging coil is centered on the charger.
- Confirm that the charger’s exact model is certified for the intended tier and that the adapter and cable meet the manufacturers’ requirements.
- Let the phone cool if it feels hot, then try again.
- Check the phone maker’s current compatibility and software guidance for your exact model.
These checks can help identify setup problems, but they cannot change the phone’s published maximum. If its official specification lists a lower rate—or does not state 25W or Qi2 25W support—do not assume a 25W charger will deliver 25W to it.
