Use the sizing kit made for your exact smart ring model and generation, then wear its sizer on your intended finger for at least 24 hours—including sleep and ordinary activities. A good fit is snug and comfortable, stays in place without rotating, and keeps the sensors against your skin.
Why a regular ring size is only a starting point
Smart rings may fit differently from ordinary jewelry because their size scales and internal sensors affect how they sit. Oura says its sizes differ slightly from standard US sizes and that sizing varies by generation. Samsung recommends its Galaxy Ring sizing kit because the sensors can change the fit. RingConn says its sizes are specially engineered and advises using a Gen 3 kit for Gen 3.
Order or borrow a kit intended for the exact brand, model, and generation you plan to buy. Do not assume that the same printed number—or a kit for an earlier generation—will fit the same way. The manufacturers’ sizing guides explain their respective kits: Oura, Samsung, and RingConn. RingConn also specifies that its Gen 3 sizing kit is for Gen 3.
How to check a smart ring’s fit
- Choose the finger you expect to wear it on. Test the sizer on that finger, not just on whichever finger is easiest to size. Fingers can differ between hands, too.
- Position the sizer as directed. It should sit at the base of your finger. For Galaxy Ring, keep the sizer’s indicator line on the outside facing your palm.
- Wear it for a full day and night. Oura and RingConn recommend at least 24 hours; Samsung says to wear the Galaxy Ring sizer for more than 24 hours, including sleep. This helps reveal fit changes during normal activity and overnight.
- Check security, comfort, and contact. The sizer should stay in place without rotating, while remaining comfortable and easy to remove. It should not hurt or restrict circulation. A secure fit helps the ring’s sensors maintain contact with your skin.
- Check for movement or a gap. Oura recommends making a fist; if a gap appears between the ring and the top of your finger, try the smaller size. Follow your ring maker’s instructions for any other fit checks.
Which finger should you use?
Choose a finger that fits securely and comfortably, then test it with the kit. Oura and RingConn recommend the index finger for accuracy. Oura also says the middle and ring fingers can work. Avoid a finger where the knuckle is much wider than the base if that makes the ring loose once it is in position.

What to do if you are between sizes
There is no universal smart-ring rule for choosing between sizes. Oura and RingConn recommend the smaller size when you are between sizes, because close skin contact matters for their rings. But do not choose a size that is painful, restricts circulation, or is difficult to remove: RingConn says to try the next size up in those cases. Samsung advises trying another size if its sizer remains uncomfortable after the extended test.
When comparing two candidates, wear each on the intended finger and judge the full fit—not just whether it passes over your knuckle. Look for comfortable snugness, a secure position at the base, no unwanted rotation or gap, and comfort after sleep and ordinary activity. If the maker’s instructions for your specific model differ from general advice, follow those instructions.
