Terminator: Survivors has a confirmed T-800 threat, an emerging Resistance, and survivor factions competing over resources. But the official material cited here does not publish a complete roster: most human characters and every faction remain unnamed. Here’s what is known—and what should not be treated as confirmed.
Who are the confirmed characters in Terminator: Survivors?
The official game description promises both iconic characters from the franchise and original characters, but the available official sources do not identify a full cast or establish the roles of individual characters. The T-800 is the clearest named character-level threat. Sarah Connor and John Connor are important to the story’s history and premise, but the sources do not confirm that either appears on screen or is playable.
T-800: the persistent machine threat
The official lore FAQ describes a single T-800 sent through time by Skynet to help change the outcome of the future war. It is presented as a relentless hunter, and the Steam store listing likewise describes the machine as a persistent threat. The sources establish its role as an antagonist, not a particular film actor’s portrayal or a separately named T-800 identity.
Sarah Connor: part of the backstory
In the game’s timeline, Sarah Connor averted the 1997 Judgment Day depicted in Terminator 2. That delayed Skynet’s emergence rather than preventing it permanently. The official FAQ says Skynet eventually launched its nuclear assault in 2005. This confirms Sarah’s historical importance to the game’s setting; it does not establish that she is a present-day character in the game.

John Connor and the Resistance
The official material frames the story around the beginnings—or genesis—of John Connor’s Resistance. Steam says players help the Resistance rise from the ashes. That supports describing the Resistance as an emerging movement in the game’s world, but not claiming John Connor is playable or appears directly.
Original characters
The publisher confirms that original characters are part of the game, but the sources cited here do not name them or describe their individual roles. Names and biographies circulating without official confirmation should not be treated as a verified roster.

What factions are in Terminator: Survivors?
Human factions are described as alliances formed by survivors trying to endure after Judgment Day. The official FAQ says communities compete for territory and scarce resources, and that players can encounter their outposts. The faction spotlight also presents factions as part of the game’s survivor-community setup.
The available official material does not provide faction names, leaders, defined ideologies, or a complete list of groups. It is therefore possible to describe their broad function—survivor alliances with competing claims—but not to make a reliable faction-by-faction comparison. Outposts are the confirmed point of contact in the world; the sources do not establish that every outpost belongs to a named or distinct faction.

When does Terminator: Survivors take place?
The official lore FAQ places the game in 2009, four years after Judgment Day in 2005 in this timeline. Sarah’s actions prevented the 1997 catastrophe, but Skynet’s rise and nuclear attack came later. This is the game’s stated continuity; it should not be confused with the original 1997 Judgment Day timeline from Terminator 2.
People outside the nuclear blast zones or sheltered in bunkers face radiation, social collapse, scarce resources, and the loss of long-range communications. Those conditions explain why survivors form small communities and why factions may come into conflict over territory and supplies.

Is Terminator: Survivors co-op or single-player?
For the current plan, treat Terminator: Survivors as a game no longer planned to launch with cooperative multiplayer. In a developer update dated 16 December 2025, Marco Ponte and the Terminator: Survivors team said that, after internal testing and discussions with players and fans, they had decided to put cooperative multiplayer aside to focus on the shooting and exploration experience. Older FAQ and PlayStation Store copy describes co-op for up to three friends, but that wording predates the update and is superseded for current plans. The update does not establish whether co-op might return later.

The Steam listing says the game is not yet available and that its release date is to be announced. Nacon lists platform and physical or digital format options on its official game page, while its PS5 product page currently reports the product as unavailable. Availability and release plans can change, so check the relevant official listing for the latest status.
