The exact way to obtain one depends on the game: main-series titles use stones, friendship, moves, or special locations, while Pokémon GO has its own rules. Check the method for your specific game before using an item or confirming an evolution.
The eight Eevee evolutions and their usual methods
This table summarizes the main-series method families, not a guarantee that every form or method is available in every release. A game’s roster may limit which Pokémon can be obtained, and details can differ between titles.

How to choose the right main-series method
Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon
These three use the Water, Thunder, and Fire Stone routes, respectively, in the standard main-series method family. Use the intended stone on Eevee and check the confirmation or evolution preview shown by your game before proceeding.

Espeon or Umbreon
In games that use the friendship method, build Eevee’s friendship and then level it up during the day for Espeon or at night for Umbreon. The relevant clock and evolution workflow are game-specific. If Eevee knows a Fairy-type move in a title where that condition unlocks Sylveon, account for it before leveling if your goal is Espeon or Umbreon.
Leafeon or Glaceon
Some releases use special Mossy Rock and Icy Rock locations; others use a Leaf Stone or Ice Stone. Do not travel to a location or spend a stone based only on instructions for another game. Check which route your title supports.

Sylveon
In the later main-series method family, Eevee needs high friendship and a Fairy-type move when it levels up. Because requirements are title-specific, use the game’s evolution prompt or a guide for that exact release rather than relying on a universal friendship number.
Pokémon GO uses a separate evolution system
Pokémon GO does not follow the main-series stone and level-up instructions as a single interchangeable system. Niantic says some Lure Modules enable special evolution options when a player is near a PokéStop with the Lure installed, and some species require evolution tasks. A secondary Pokémon GO guide reports Eevee-specific nickname tricks and Mossy or Glacial Lure routes, and says each Eevee evolution costs 25 Candy. Niantic’s cited general help page does not confirm that Eevee-specific checklist, so verify the current requirement and Candy in the live app. Before spending resources, check the evolve button: it should show the evolution you intend to get. Do not assume a nickname trick will work repeatedly.

The eight forms are the standard Eevee evolution set, but that does not mean every one is obtainable in every Pokémon title. Methods and available rosters vary by release. Scarlet and Violet examples are covered by a recent secondary guide, but verify the in-game requirement before using a stone or leveling Eevee.
For Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the official evolution overview discusses general progression and Evolution stones, but it does not establish whether Eevee is available or how it evolves. The official Legends: Z-A site likewise should not be treated as confirmation of Eevee-specific availability. Check the game’s current roster and evolution prompt before assuming a method applies.
