If you mean Hasselblad’s current X2D-generation camera, the model is the X2D II 100C. Its US body price was listed at $7,799 on October 7, 2026, before choosing an XCD lens; store bundles put a body-and-lens setup between $9,478 and $13,728. It is best considered by still photographers who want a 100-megapixel medium-format system and can budget for its lenses—not by buyers who need one camera for both stills and video.
Which X2D does the name refer to?
“X2D” can mean either the current X2D II 100C or its predecessor, the X2D 100C. This guide focuses on the X2D II. Hasselblad’s US product page displayed the predecessor at $8,199, but that is an official-page figure rather than a market-wide comparison: retailer prices, sales, regional taxes, and used stock can differ. | Bundle lens | Listed US bundle price |
|---|---|
| XCD 4/28P | $9,478 |
| XCD 2.5/55V or 2.5/38V | $11,498 |
| XCD 2.5/25V | $11,498 |
| XCD 2.5/90V | $12,098 |

These figures and promotions are volatile. The older X2D’s $7,399 launch price reported in a review search result is historical; the current official X2D II listing is the more relevant dated US reference here. Which XCD lens should you consider?
The X2D II belongs to Hasselblad’s X System and uses XCD lenses. The right choice depends on the field of view and work you actually do; Hasselblad’s descriptions below are the manufacturer’s intended-use guidance, not independent test conclusions.
- Wide-angle options: The 20–35E zoom and 28P offer wide coverage. The 25V is a wide prime.
- Everyday and documentary: Hasselblad describes the 38V as a travel/everyday lens and the 55V as a documentary lens.
- Portraits: Hasselblad positions the 90V for portrait photography.
- One-lens flexibility: The 35–100E zoom covers a broad range; Hasselblad also describes the older 35–75 as a versatile 2x zoom.
If you are buying a used or older XCD lens, check that it is compatible with the body and has the firmware required for the feature you expect. Hasselblad says AF-C requires compatible XCD lenses with current firmware; its FAQ names the 35–100E, 38V, 55V, 25V, 90V, 28P, and 75P as compatible. AF-C is unavailable when the electronic shutter is in use. Hasselblad X2D II 100C FAQ

Which camera features matter to a buyer?
Resolution, color, and dynamic range
Hasselblad specifies a 100-megapixel medium-format BSI CMOS sensor, 16-bit color, native ISO 50, and 15.3 stops of dynamic range. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every scene or workflow will deliver a particular result. Hasselblad X2D II 100C specifications
Stabilization: understand the test conditions
Hasselblad rates its five-axis in-body stabilization at up to 10 stops at the image center and 8 stops at the edges. The manufacturer says this rating was measured with the XCD 3.5/120 Macro under CIPA standards. It is a test rating, not a promise that every handheld exposure will be sharp. Hasselblad also says stabilization is up to eight times that of the original X2D 100C when capturing distant subjects. Hasselblad X2D II 100C specifications

Storage
The camera includes a 1TB internal SSD and a CFexpress Type B slot for additional storage. A card is an optional expansion route, not a required purchase simply to use the camera. Hasselblad X2D II 100C specifications
HDR and your editing setup
Hasselblad’s FAQ says HDR JPG can show HDR effects in Phocus, supported MacBook Pro Preview, and recent Adobe Lightroom/Camera Raw versions. HDR HEIF display support is more limited. If HDR is central to your workflow, confirm current device and software support before buying, since compatibility can change. Hasselblad describes the X2D II as “the first medium format camera to support true end-to-end HDR”; treat that as the company’s product claim. Hasselblad X2D II 100C FAQ · Hasselblad press release

Who is the X2D II 100C for?
Hasselblad’s launch positioning names landscape, portrait, street, and travel photography. Combined with the camera’s still-focused specifications and the reported lack of video capability, that points toward photographers prioritizing high-resolution stills and willing to invest in the XCD system. This is an assessment based on published positioning and specifications, not hands-on testing. A buyer whose work requires a hybrid stills-and-video body should look elsewhere.
