To report a player, use the in-game Report flow or the player’s profile. Fortnite’s settings do not describe a separate universal “block” action in the current guidance covered here: use Communication settings to limit who can contact you, or mute an individual in chat.
Mute a player in Fortnite voice chat
- Select your profile icon and open Party chat or Game chat, depending on where the person is speaking.
- Select the participant or their profile in that chat view, then choose the available voice control to mute them. Use the same controls to unmute or deafen as needed. Menu labels can vary by client; consult Epic’s voice-chat guidance if the controls differ.
Party chat connects party members across Fortnite and the Epic apps listed by Epic. Game chat connects players in the same island instance, when that island’s creator supports it. Muting a person applies to that voice interaction; it does not change who can contact you elsewhere.
Limit who can contact you
To change communications more broadly, open Profile > Settings > Communication. Epic lists these options: Everybody; Friends, Team Members, and Connections; Friends Only; and Off. Choose the audience that fits your needs. This is a global communications preference, not a report against a particular player.
- Epic says chat defaults to Off for players whose accounts indicate they are under 18.
- Parental controls can restrict changes to communication settings.
- Children under 10 are limited to Friends Only, according to Epic.
Epic’s guidance describes these audience controls and individual voice controls, but does not establish a separate standalone player-blocking control. If your client shows a block option, check Epic’s current support guidance for what that option covers.

Report a player for conduct in a match
Use this route for player behavior rather than simply unwanted voice contact. Epic provides platform-specific menu buttons; the exact labels may vary by client version.
- Open the in-game menu: press Esc on PC or Mac, Options on PlayStation, Menu on Xbox, or + on Switch.
- Choose the three-line menu, then select Report.
- Select Submit a report, then A player or sidekick.
- Choose the player’s name and a reason, then accept to submit.
You can also report from a recently played player’s profile or the voice-channel player list: open More options, select Report, choose a reason, and accept. Epic says a submission may help it determine whether action is warranted under its Terms of Service and Code of Conduct; it does not guarantee a particular outcome. Report text chat or a message
- Select your profile icon, then open Chats.
- Select the conversation and open its three-dot menu.
- Choose Report chat and submit. Alternatively, use the Report button in the text-chat window, or open the three-dot menu beside an individual message to report it.
Epic says text chat must be on and text reporting enabled for chat contents to be reviewed. Reporting a conversation or message is separate from muting a voice participant.

With Voice Reporting on, select your profile icon, open the three-dot control under Social, and choose Report chat. Fortnite keeps a rolling capture of the most recent five minutes; older audio is deleted. The recording stays on your console or PC unless you submit a report. When you submit, the report and audio are sent to Epic moderators. Epic explains the process in How does voice reporting in Fortnite work?.

Epic’s voice-reporting settings guidance says Voice Reporting is always on for players under 18. Adults can choose Always On or Off When Possible. The latter applies only to Party Channels and turns reporting off only when every party member has selected it; Game Channels always have voice reporting on. Check Epic’s Voice Reporting settings guidance for current availability and labels.
