To remove an installed iOS public beta now, Apple’s documented method is to erase and restore your iPhone using a computer. The restore installs the current publicly released, non-beta iOS version. Turning Beta Updates off only stops future beta updates; it does not remove the beta already on your iPhone.
Before you begin: The restore erases your iPhone. Check whether you have an archived backup made before installing the beta, or another backup compatible with the iOS version that will be installed. Apple warns that a backup made while using beta software may not work with an earlier iOS version.

Choose between leaving the beta now and stopping future beta updates

Apple does not describe a supported on-device rollback that removes an installed beta immediately without erasing the device. Its restore instructions are at Apple Support: How to uninstall iOS or iPadOS beta software.
Check your backup before restoring
Look for an archived backup made before you installed beta software, or one created on an iOS version compatible with the version the restore will install. Apple cautions that a backup made while the device is running beta software may not work with an earlier iOS version. If you have no compatible earlier backup, you may not be able to restore your most recent beta-era backup after downgrading.

Do not assume that a beta-era iCloud or computer backup will be usable after the downgrade. If preserving the data on the phone is essential and you do not have a compatible backup, consider whether to wait rather than erase the device.
Restore the iPhone to the current public iOS release
- Prepare a computer. Use a Mac with the latest macOS or a Windows computer with the latest Apple Devices app. Connect the iPhone using a cable compatible with the ports on both devices. Apple does not specify one cable type for every iPhone and computer combination.
- Enter recovery mode. For iPhone 8 and later, quickly press and release Volume Up, then quickly press and release Volume Down. Hold the Side button until the recovery-mode screen appears. If your iPhone model differs, follow the model-specific instructions on Apple’s support page.
- Choose Restore when the computer prompts you. This erases the iPhone and installs the current publicly released, non-beta version of iOS. Allow the process to finish.
- If the download takes more than 15 minutes and the iPhone exits recovery mode, let the download finish, then repeat the recovery-mode step and choose Restore again.
- Complete setup. Wait for the restore to finish. If prompted, sign in to your Apple Account to turn off Activation Lock. Set up the iPhone and restore only from a compatible archived backup.
Turn off beta updates without removing the installed beta
If your goal is to avoid receiving the next beta rather than return to stable iOS immediately, turn beta updates off. This setting does not uninstall the beta already installed.

- iOS 16.4 or later: Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, then select Off.
- iOS 16.3.1 or earlier: Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, select the beta software profile, then tap Remove Profile.
If the beta has expired
If your iPhone says an update is available because the beta has expired, Apple says to install the offered update at Settings > General > Software Update. This is an update offered for that situation, not a way to choose any earlier stable iOS version.
