No. Raspberry Pi Connect lets you use a Windows PC or Mac as a browser to access a linked Raspberry Pi; it does not remotely control the Windows or Mac computer you are using. Think of Windows or Mac as the controls and the Raspberry Pi as the computer being controlled.
What Raspberry Pi Connect can access
After you link a Raspberry Pi to your account, sign in to the Raspberry Pi Connect website in a browser on a PC, Mac, or another device. Choose the linked Pi, then select an available access method:
- Screen sharing: view and interact with the Raspberry Pi desktop in the browser.
- Remote shell: open a command-line session on the Raspberry Pi.
Neither option gives you control of the Windows or Mac computer running the browser. Raspberry Pi’s remote-access documentation describes Connect as a way to reach a Raspberry Pi, not as a tool for remotely operating a PC or Mac.

Use screen sharing for graphical work
Choose screen sharing when you need the Pi’s graphical desktop. This option depends on the Pi’s display-server configuration: it requires Wayland and will not work with Raspberry Pi OS Lite or an X-based system.

Use remote shell for command-line work
Choose remote shell to run commands on the Pi in a terminal session. It is distinct from screen sharing: a shell gives you command-line access, not a view of the Pi’s desktop.
How the connection works
Connect handles the networking between your browser and the linked Pi. Raspberry Pi says users do not need to find the Pi’s local or public IP address or change the local firewall to access it. What Raspberry Pi says about connection security
Raspberry Pi Ltd says, “All connections between Raspberry Pi devices and the user’s browser use WebRTC: the same real-time communication technology used by Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.” The company also says screen-sharing and remote-shell traffic is encrypted using DTLS between the Pi and browser, and that only encrypted data is relayed through a TURN server when a direct peer-to-peer connection is not possible.
