What is the latest confirmed Destiny 2 update?
Update 9.7.0 is the latest major update confirmed in Bungie’s official materials reviewed for this article. Bungie’s June 9, 2026 patch notes describe it as the “final major patch for Destiny 2.” That does not mean no further changes can arrive: Bungie said maintenance patches and smaller hotfixes could follow.

Bungie’s Update 9.7.0 support guide says planned live-service content updates ended with 9.7.0, while preserving the option of a future hotfix for game health or stability. The Destiny 2 Team put it plainly in the patch notes: “Well, that’s a bit of a fib. We’ll still have a few maintenance patches and smaller hotfixes after today… but this is our final major patch for Destiny 2.”
What did Update 9.7.0 add?
Monument of Triumph
The update’s centerpiece is Monument of Triumph, a celebration of players’ accomplishments. Completing Triumphs awards Legendary Marks, which can be exchanged for armor ornaments, accessories, weapon engrams, and other rewards. Bungie introduced the feature in its May 21, 2026 announcement about the end of active development.

The release notes also cover changes to activities, menus, Vault features, and other gameplay systems, alongside user-interface and quality-of-life adjustments. Bungie characterized its notes as “over 17,000 words”; that is the team’s description of the notes, not an independently measured count. Is Destiny 2 still getting updates?
Destiny 2 remains playable, Bungie said in its May 21 announcement, but the studio ended planned live-service content updates with 9.7.0. The distinction matters: a future stability hotfix or maintenance patch would not, by itself, mean Bungie had resumed planned content development.

Bungie’s news index lists smaller post-9.7.0 entries, including 9.7.0.2 dated June 23, 2026, and 9.7.0.3 dated July 7, 2026. Those examples fit the maintenance and hotfix caveat; they do not establish a new major content update.
Has Bungie announced a new October 2026 update?
The official materials cited here do not confirm a new October 2026 update. Because Bungie allows for future hotfixes, the possibility of a later maintenance release cannot be ruled out from the absence of an announcement in these materials. To verify a claim that a new update is available today, check for a dated Bungie announcement or patch-notes page rather than treating general download guidance as proof of a release.
