To continue your Halo: Campaign Evolved campaign between Xbox and PC, sign in on both platforms with the same Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag that hold your progress. On Steam, link your Steam account to that Microsoft account through the game’s account-linking flow. Halo Support says campaign progress, collectibles, and Achievements sync across supported platforms.
How to continue your campaign on PC
- Identify the Xbox account. On Xbox, note the Microsoft account and Xbox Gamertag associated with the progress you want to continue.
- Launch the PC version. If you use the Xbox app or Microsoft Store, sign in with that same Microsoft account. If you use Steam, start the game and follow its prompt to link Steam to the intended Microsoft account.
- Check the account details before confirming. Make sure the displayed Microsoft account and platform account are the ones you intend to use. Halo Support says the initial link cannot be undone in-game.
- Load your progression. Once signed in and linked, the game should sync the supported campaign data associated with your Microsoft account.
For Steam, Halo Support’s linking flow starts from the game’s main menu. Scan the displayed QR code or open the Microsoft linking portal, enter the eight-character code shown in the game, then sign in to the Microsoft account you want to use. The code expires after 15 minutes, and the Microsoft account must have an Xbox Gamertag. Review the platform and Microsoft accounts shown before agreeing. Keep the sign-in window open until you select “Let’s go”; closing it earlier can prevent the link from completing. Halo Support’s account-linking guide has the official flow.
What syncs between Xbox and PC?
Halo Support says campaign progress, collectibles, and Achievements sync across supported platforms when you sign in using a linked Microsoft account. Its explicit list includes:
- Mission and Rally Point unlocks
- Skulls
- Terminals
- Achievements
This guidance does not establish that local settings, control bindings, temporary checkpoints, or platform purchases transfer. The supported-platform list includes Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5; Xbox Wire identifies PC access through Windows PC and Steam as well as Xbox consoles. Xbox app, Microsoft Store, or Steam: which account step differs?

Linking is an account-identity step, not a save-file copy. Xbox Wire lists Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass as day-one access options, but a subscription is not stated as a requirement for cross-progression. Co-op subscription rules are separate from save syncing.
What to do if your progress does not appear
- Check that the Microsoft account on PC is exactly the one associated with the Xbox Gamertag that has your progress.
- For Steam, confirm which Microsoft account is linked to the Steam account. Do not create or confirm another link until you have checked the displayed identities.
- If the accounts are wrong, use the in-game unlink request route to contact Halo Support. The guide says unlinking is not self-service in-game; Support processes requests, and the progression associated with the unlinked platform account can be removed from that account.
- If the correct account is linked and expected progress is still missing, check current Halo Support information or submit a support request. Official guidance does not establish one universal cause or fix for every missing-progression case.
Unlinking: read this before changing accounts
Halo Support warns that account linking cannot be undone in-game. An unlink request opens a browser and must be submitted using the Microsoft account associated with the displayed Xbox account. According to the current support guide, requests are reviewed and processed in 1–2 business days, and the same two accounts cannot receive another unlink request until 180 days have passed. Support says progression remains on the Microsoft account and on any other platforms still linked to it; the unlinked Steam or PlayStation account loses the listed progression. A dated saved-progress exception
Halo Support’s August 17, 2026 patch notes said installing that update required mid-mission saved progress to reset, while unlocked Missions and Rally Points remained available. That was a specific update behavior, not a general description of how Xbox-to-PC progression works. Read the August 17, 2026 patch notes for that update’s details.
