A leaked image or set number is not proof that LEGO has announced a product. First check LEGO’s official newsroom; after a reveal, verify the set name and number on LEGO.com or LEGO’s building-instructions service. Then assess the preorder seller separately: an official set can still be offered by an unreliable store.
Is this leaked LEGO set real?
A leak may turn out to match a later release, but a picture, rumor, or number shared by a leak account or retailer does not establish that LEGO has confirmed the set. LEGO does not provide a method in the guidance cited here for conclusively authenticating leaked images before its own announcement.
Use LEGO’s official press-release archive as the primary check for a product reveal. LEGO describes its newsroom as a place to find news about new sets, campaigns, celebrations, and partnerships. If you cannot find the alleged set there, the accurate conclusion is that it is not confirmed by the official source you checked—not that it can never be released.
How to verify a set after LEGO announces it
- Find the official announcement. Search the LEGO newsroom for the set name or theme.
- Check the product on LEGO.com. Compare the product name and set number with the official listing when available.
- Cross-check the set number. LEGO explains that set numbers identify sets, appear on boxes and instructions, and can be used to search LEGO.com and its building-instructions service. A number circulating only in a leak or seller listing is not official confirmation.
These checks establish whether LEGO has announced and listed a product. They do not authenticate a particular leak image or certify the seller offering a preorder.

Is it safe to preorder a leaked LEGO set?
Product confirmation and seller legitimacy are separate questions. LEGO warns that fraudulent stores can imitate its branding and use real product photos, so a familiar logo or convincing image is not enough to trust a listing. LEGO’s trademark guidance likewise cautions that imitated names, logos, and product shapes are used to mislead consumers into thinking they are buying genuine products: LEGO Group trademark guidance.
Check the seller, not just the listing
- Review the full website and seller identity, including usable contact information.
- Read return and cancellation terms before paying.
- Look for reviews from multiple independent sources rather than relying only on testimonials on the seller’s site.
- Treat a price far below what seems plausible as a reason to investigate further.
These checks are consistent with LEGO’s advice in its guide to spotting fake LEGO webstores, published November 24, 2020. The company notes that deceptive shops may use LEGO logos, theme logos, genuine product photos, or similar web design.

Choose a payment method carefully
LEGO says a credit or debit card will often provide greater protection if a buyer receives fake or nonexistent products. That is general consumer guidance, not a guaranteed refund: protections depend on the card issuer, payment method, and location. Check the applicable terms before you pay.

LEGO’s US customer service page links to order status, deliveries, returns and cancellations, building instructions, and contact options. Those resources can help with an identifiable LEGO order or set. They do not certify an unrelated third-party preorder or establish that a seller is authorized.
