Use Glary Utilities’ Startup Manager to review startup entries, then choose Disable to stop an item launching automatically or Delay to let it launch later. Disable first when you are unsure: you can re-enable an entry if something stops working. Reserve Delete for entries you are certain you no longer need.

Open Startup Manager and review the entries

  1. Launch Glary Utilities and open Startup Manager. Glarysoft’s how-to article places it under Advanced Tools; the help page refers to the listing page as Startup Programs. Labels and grouping can vary by version. The vendor’s module overview also lists Startup Manager under Optimize & Improve.
  2. Review the list before changing anything. It can include Windows startup programs, scheduled tasks, plug-ins, and some application services—not only conventional startup apps.
  3. Select an entry to inspect available details. Glarysoft says the list may show information such as process name, usefulness, load time, status, and path; selection can show process name, manufacturer, usefulness, and Windows boot status. Treat the usefulness indicator as information, not a definitive safety or necessity rating.

Glarysoft’s Startup Manager help page describes these controls. If you do not recognize an entry or cannot establish what it does, leave it enabled until you can identify it.

Choose the right action: disable, delay, or delete

Action Effect When it fits
Disable Stops the entry from launching automatically at the next Windows start. The entry can be enabled again. Use to test whether an item is needed or to stop an unwanted automatic launch.
Delay Keeps the automatic launch but postpones it by a chosen interval. Use for an application you still want to start automatically, but not immediately.
Delete Removes the startup entry. Use only when you are certain you no longer need the entry.

Disable an entry

  1. In Startup Manager, right-click the entry and choose Disable. Alternatively, open Edit and choose Disable this entry.
  2. Restart Windows and check whether the application or feature you rely on still works.
  3. If something does not work properly, return to the entry and choose Enable this entry. Glarysoft documents this as the recovery option.

Delay an application that should still start

Right-click the entry and choose Delay, or use the Delay control in the Edit list. Glarysoft documents a default delay of 30 seconds and a maximum of 270 seconds. These are settings for the delay interval, not a promise of a particular boot-time improvement.

Add a program to startup

  1. On the Startup Programs page, choose Add program….
  2. Enter the application name and its directory path in Path/Command Line. Use Browse… to locate the executable if needed.
  3. Confirm with OK.

Glarysoft’s Startup Manager instructions and its supplementary How to Add Programs to Startup article describe adding an entry.

Delete an entry or undo a recent change

Deleting is distinct from disabling: use Delete this entry only when you are sure the entry is no longer needed. For recent changes, choose Undo Changes to open a dialog listing changed programs and backups; there you can restore a backup or delete it.

What to expect from Glary Utilities

Startup Manager provides controls for managing and delaying startup entries, but the available documentation does not establish a specific speed increase for an individual PC. Results depend on the entries and system, so check your actual startup behavior rather than assuming a measured improvement. Glarysoft’s product page listed version 6.48 for Windows, updated September 21, 2026; product listings can change, and the version shown may differ from the one installed.
