How to Redeem DLC Codes on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic

First check which platform or store is named on your code, then make sure you are signed in to the account that should own the content. PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic codes use different redemption flows and are not interchangeable by default. Redeeming a code may grant the entitlement without installing it; some rewards become available in-game without a separate download.

Before you redeem: match the code, store, and account

Identify the storefront. Follow the platform or store named on the code or retailer instructions. A code intended for Steam, for example, is not redeemed in PlayStation Store.
Choose the right account. Sign in to the account that should own the DLC before entering the code. On PlayStation, redeemed content cannot be transferred to another account.
Separate redemption from installation. After a code is accepted, you may still need to download or install the content. Some in-game currency, consumables, or skins may appear in the game without a separate download.

Support pages may call DLC an add-on, voucher, digital code, or downloadable content. The label varies, but the key is to use the matching platform’s redemption route.

Redeem a code on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4

PlayStation content voucher codes are 12 digits. A 10-digit code is a discount code and uses a different process. Before redeeming, check that the voucher’s region matches your PlayStation account region. PlayStation says voucher codes are single-use, and redeemed content cannot be transferred between accounts. See PlayStation’s voucher redemption instructions for the current details.

PlayStation Store online

Open PlayStation Store and select your profile.
Choose Redeem Code.
Enter the 12-digit voucher code and continue to redeem it.

On PS5

Open PlayStation Store.
Press Triangle, then choose More > Redeem Code.
Enter the code and select Redeem.
If Download is offered, select it to start the download. You can also download eligible content later.

On PS4

Open PlayStation Store.
Go to the bottom of the sidebar and choose Redeem Codes.
Enter the code, then continue and confirm.
Select Download if it is offered.

In the PlayStation App

Open the PS Store menu in the app, choose the voucher redemption option, and enter the code. PlayStation lists games and add-ons, in-game currency and consumables, skins, season passes, and wallet balance among voucher types. Whether a separate download is needed depends on the item; some in-game rewards are delivered without one.

Redeem an Xbox code through Microsoft

Xbox download codes and tokens are redeemed to a Microsoft account. Sign in to the account that should receive the content, then use Microsoft’s code redemption flow to enter or paste the code. Availability through Microsoft Store online, Windows, or Xbox depends on the code and the content.

On an Xbox console

From the Xbox Home Menu, open Microsoft Store.
Sign in if prompted, using the intended Microsoft account.
Choose Redeem in the sidebar.
Enter the code and confirm.

For downloadable content, WB Games’ publisher instructions say to check My Games and Apps > Queue for the download. Microsoft’s account redemption page is the primary reference for redeeming the code.

Activate a code on Steam

Open the Steam client and sign in to the account that should own the content.
From the top menu, choose Games > Activate a Product on Steam.
Follow the prompts and enter the code.
After activation, check your Steam Library and install the relevant game or add-on if needed.

The wording may appear as “Activate a product” in publisher instructions. This route is for a code from another retailer; a purchase made directly through Steam does not require code redemption. See WB Games’ Steam instructions and Santa Monica Studio’s code guide.

Redeem an Epic Games code on PC

In the Epic Games client

Open the Epic Games client and sign in to the intended account.
Select your profile and choose Redeem Code.
Enter the code and redeem it.
Find the game in the client and install it if required.

In a browser

Sign in to the Epic account that should receive the content.
Open the account dropdown and choose Redeem Code.
Enter the code and submit it.
Install the game from the Epic Games client if needed.

As with Steam, a direct Epic Games Store purchase does not require entering a retailer code. The steps above are for codes. See Santa Monica Studio’s Steam and Epic code guide for its publisher-specific instructions.

If the code is invalid or the DLC is missing

The code is rejected

Check the code or retailer listing for the named platform or storefront, then redeem it there.
For PlayStation, confirm that a content voucher is 12 digits; a 10-digit discount code follows a different process.
For PlayStation, check that the voucher region matches your account and that the code has not already been redeemed.

The code redeemed, but no download started

Redemption does not necessarily start installation. Check the platform’s library or download queue: PlayStation may offer a Download option, Xbox DLC may appear in My Games and Apps > Queue, and Steam or Epic content should be checked in the matching client’s library.

The store says you own it, but it is not in the game

Confirm that you are using the account that redeemed the code, that any required download has completed, and that you have launched the relevant game and edition. Some cosmetic or currency rewards may appear only in-game. Entitlement behavior varies by title, so contact the game publisher’s support if the platform shows ownership but the game does not provide the item.

You want to use the code on another platform

Do not assume a code works across platforms. Use the storefront named on the code or retailer listing; the redemption instructions above describe separate platform-specific routes, not cross-platform portability.
