Overwatch collaborations are themed crossovers, but they do not all use the same reward system. Some featured cosmetics are sold in limited-time shop bundles; other items can be earned by completing event challenges. Check each collaboration’s official announcement for its specific rewards, requirements and dates—an old announcement does not show that an offer is still available.
What an Overwatch collaboration can include
A collaboration brings Overwatch together with another brand or franchise for themed content. Official examples include NERF, G.I. Joe, World of Warcraft, One-Punch Man, Porsche, and Hello Kitty and Friends. The format varies: an event might feature hero skins, weapon cosmetics, player-customization items, challenges, or a mix of these.
For each item, distinguish its acquisition route. A featured skin in a shop bundle is not automatically a challenge reward, and a challenge reward is not necessarily one of the shop skins.
How to tell whether a reward is free or paid
Look at the item’s stated route in the collaboration announcement. If it is offered through an event challenge, it can be earned by meeting that challenge’s requirements. If it is listed in a shop bundle, it is a purchase offer. A single collaboration can include both routes, so “free” applies to particular rewards, not to every cosmetic in the crossover.

- Shop bundles: Offer featured cosmetics for purchase during a stated window. A bundle may include several items.
- Battle Pass: Blizzard’s general system explanation describes free and premium tracks, but that background does not establish how a particular collaboration reward is obtained. Follow the collaboration’s own announcement.
- External promotions: A partner promotion may require a qualifying product purchase and code redemption; this is separate from earning an item by playing.
Blizzard’s general shop and Battle Pass overview explains rotating bundles and challenges that can earn rewards and Battle Pass experience. It is background, not a live inventory or a promise that each crossover uses those same routes.

These examples show why a collaboration name alone is not enough to determine whether a specific skin is free, purchasable, or currently obtainable.

How to check a reward before trying to get it
- Open the collaboration’s official announcement. Identify the exact item and whether it is listed under challenges, a shop bundle, a Battle Pass track, or a partner promotion.
- Read the requirement for that item. For challenges, note any play, win, or completion conditions. For a bundle, check its purchase window. For an external offer, check eligible products and redemption terms.
- Compare all relevant dates. An event’s challenge period, a shop offer’s end date, and a promotional code’s expiration can differ.
- Confirm present availability in the game or current offer terms. A historical announcement records what was offered then; it does not prove the item is available now.
Can you still get old collaboration skins?
Not necessarily. The official announcements reviewed describe limited windows, but they do not establish a universal rerun schedule or guarantee that past cosmetics will return. A later event can bring back some items while adding others, as the One-Punch Man return announcement illustrates; that does not promise another return or establish availability outside the dates stated there.
To assess a particular skin, check the current in-game shop and the latest official announcement for that collaboration. If neither confirms it is available, a past event page is not evidence that it can be purchased or earned today.

What the Hello Kitty product promotion involved
Blizzard described a limited Razer x Hello Kitty and Friends offer in which select product purchases could provide a code for an Overwatch cosmetic bundle. The announcement gave a promotion period of February 10 through March 31 and said codes expired December 31, 2026. Those dates describe that specific offer, not an ongoing benefit of buying Razer products. Check the official announcement for its terms; it does not establish that the purchase window remains open or identify every qualifying product in the information cited here.
